  1. 1. Geometry studies of high energy 16O collisions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik

    Author : Aliaksei Kuzmenka; [2022]
    Keywords : Ion Collisions; Oxygen; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project a model of oxygen, 16O, nuclei, where the nucleons are organised in α-clusters, was implemented in the Pythia Monte Carlo event generator. To study the effects of the new model, some observables, such as the distribution of the number of the wounded nucleons, charged particle multiplicity in the forward and central pseudorapidity region, and the pseudorapidity distribution for different centrality bins and eccentricity, are compared to the model originally implemented in Pythia (Woods-Saxon). 2. 2. Impact of different primary particles on Geant4 simulation execution time - study on protons and pions

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikelfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Rebecca Jigström Madeira; [2021]
    Keywords : Geant4; Monte Carlo method; Large Hadron Collider; simulation time; collider experiment; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC) at CERN, an improvement to the LHC, scheduled to be operating in 2027, will further the potential for scientific breakthroughs in High Energy Physics. The project’s demand in computational resources, however, is predicted to exceed what will be available then. READ MORE
