  1. 1. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 2. 2. Evaluation of The Viral Reduction Potential using Ultrafiltration Membranes in the Drinking Water Treatment Process at Norrvatten

    University essay from KTH/Industriell bioteknologi

    Author : Emma Eriksson; [2023]
    Keywords : Microbiological barrier; Ultrafiltration; NanoCeram filter; Drinking Water; Raw Water; Mikrobiologisk barriär; Ultrafiltering; NanoCeram filter; Dricksvatten; Råvatten;

    Abstract : En pilotanläggning för ultrafiltering testas nu i Norrvattens reningsprocess för att undersöka ifall den kan användas som en tredje mikrobiologisk barriär i reningsprocessen. Målet med detta projekt är att testa membranets kapacitet att filtrera bort viruspartiklar men även membranet generella reduktionsförmåga för andra mikrobiologiska och kemiska kontamineringar. 3. 3. Jämförelse av patogenprevalens hos vilda humlor på olika avstånd från honungsbisamhällen : och skillnader i patogenförekomst mellan olika arter av kommersiella pollinerare

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Author : Julia Carlsson; [2023]
    Keywords : Apis mellifera; Bombus terrestris; vilda pollinerare; patogenprevalens;

    Abstract : Idag minskar den inhemska populationen av pollinerare till följd av klimatförändringar och urbanisering. För att bibehålla den livsviktiga pollineringen används bland annat samhällen av honungsbin (Apis mellifera), vilket antas kunna påverka de vilda humlorna negativt genom exempelvis konkurrens om resurser och patogenspridning. 4. 4. Detection Of Soil Borne Pathogens Causing Pea Root Rot Using Minion

    University essay from Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Author : Alvine Lum Bongam; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Peas are small spherical seedpod of the pod fruit Pisum sativum. It is of great nutritional value containing vitamins, carbohydrates, proteins, and several minerals. A variety of diseases affects peas through a number of pathogens including insects, viruses, bacteria and fungi. READ MORE

  5. 5. Acquired and lost structure-functions of non-enveloped and enveloped viruses

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Diogo Filipe; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Viruses are biological entities that constantly affect the world around us and in many cases they can harm the health of humans and negatively impact food production, in agriculture andfisheries. The project concept is that, through the structural studies of viruses that infectsimple hosts, it is possible to point out structural features that are unique and conserved inviruses, that infect human, other animals, and crops, in the same phylogenetic lineage.
