1. How to Rise from Ashes : A Comprehensive Guide to Finally Understand Canonical Quantization and Build Quantum Mechanics from Scratch
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Materialteori; Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för teoretisk filosofiAbstract : In this review essay, we account for the historical development of canonical quantization. By a detailed review of The Ultraviolet Catastrophe, The Photoelectric Effect, Compton Scattering, Matter Waves and Bohr's Atomic Model we learn about Old Quantum Theory. READ MORE

2. On the (1/2,1/2) Representation of the Lorentz Group and the Discrete CPT Symmetries
University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisationAbstract : This thesis derives the explicit form of the elements of the (1/2,1/2) representation of the Lorentz group, by actually performing a direct product of the chiral (1/2,0)- and (0,1/2)-representations. The Lorentz transformations of fourvectors are thereafter recovered from this direct-product representation, allowing the derivation of a transformation matrix between the fourvector- and direct product basis. 3. The Ratio of Reality : A study of the gyromagnetic ratio in theories ranging from classical mechanics to string theory
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysikAbstract : In this project a theoretical study of the so called gyromagnetic ratio was done by investigating classical mechanics, Dirac theory and string theory. The gyromagnetic ratio is a constant term appearing in the coupling between angular momentum and magnetic moment for a particle. READ MORE

4. Ab initio simulations of topological phase transitions in Dirac semimetal Cd3As2 doped with Zn and Mn impurities
University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för fysik och elektroteknik (IFE)Abstract : In this work we exploit the unique characteristics of a Dirac semimetal material to be symmetry-protected, to investigate dierent topological phase transitions provided by chemical dopings, focusing in particular on the electronic, magnetic and topological properties of the doped systems, studied by the mean of rst-principles methods based on density functional theory (DFT) approach. In particular these doped systems, besides being of interest for investigating the role of topology in solid state physics, could have a great potential for practical application since the dierent topological phases that come along with the chemical dopings allow one to exploit the unique properties of topological materials. 5. Electromagnetic Duality in SO(3) Yang-Mills Theory : Bachelor Thesis
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysikAbstract : We introduce the historical context and motivation for the search for magnetic monopoles or monopole-like objects. Beginning the theoretical part we investigate the properties of groups as they relate to symmetries in physical theories. READ MORE
