  1. 1. A C++ Matrix library for computing the Gateaux derivative of the Fermi-Dirac operator

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för beräkningsvetenskap

    Author : William Samuelsson; [2023]
    Keywords : C ; Quantum Chemistry; Matrix functions;

    Abstract : Computing the Fermi-Dirac operator is done through recursive polynomial expansions, using the SP2 and SP2 Acc algorithms. The Gateaux derivative is computed for both schemes by mapping the zeroth and first order matrices onto a block upper triangular matrix, which is implemented in Python using Numpy arrays to store full matrices and in C++ by first constructing a basic matrix library to use as blocks in a later created block upper triangular matrix library which only directly references two blocks in a 2 x 2 block matrix. 2. 2. Transverse Momentum Spectra in pp collisions (\sqrt{s}\) = 7 TeV and \(\sqrt{s}\) = 13 TeV in ALICE

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Andreas Stokkeland; [2023]
    Keywords : Multiplicity; Multiplicity classes; Soft interactions; Quark Gluon Plasma; QGP; transverse momentum; p_T; Chi-squared; fits; fit functions; Levy; Lévy; Exponential; BGBW; Boltzmann-Gibbs blast-wave; Fermi-Dirac; Bose-Einstein; Boltzmann; pion; kaon; proton; transverse momentum spectra; p_T spectra; surface velocity; Minimum Bias; MB; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project particle production as a function of transverse momentum (\(p_{\rm T}\)) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy (\(\sqrt{s}\)) of 7 TeV and 13 TeV has been studied. The transverse momentum is interesting to study since it reflects momentum created in the collision (before the collision, all momentum is in the beam - going in a longitudinal direction) and therefore gives information on the collision dynamics. 3. 3. Quantum Transport in Topological Insulator Nanowires

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Sergi Pradas Rodriguez; [2023]
    Keywords : quantum transport; topological insulators; nanowires; numerical analysis; Kwant; etc.; kvanttransport; topologiska isolatorer; nanotrådar; numerisk analys; Kvant; etc.;

    Abstract : Three-dimensional topological insulators are materials that have a bulk band gap like a traditional insulator, but which hold topologically protected conducting surface states. In this thesis we present a numerical analysis of the surface states of topological insulator nanowires in the tight-binding approximation. READ MORE

  4. 4. How to Rise from Ashes : A Comprehensive Guide to Finally Understand Canonical Quantization and Build Quantum Mechanics from Scratch

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Materialteori; Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för teoretisk filosofi

    Author : Karl Herlin; [2022]
    Keywords : Quantum mechanics; History of quantum mechanics; Canonical Quantization; double-slit experiment; The Photoelectric Effect; Compton Scattering; Matter Waves; Bohr’s Atomic Model; Old Quantum Theory; Heisenberg-Born-Jordan Matrix Mechanics; Schrodinger’s Quantum Wave Mechanics; equations of motion;

    Abstract : In this review essay, we account for the historical development of canonical quantization. By a detailed review of The Ultraviolet Catastrophe, The Photoelectric Effect, Compton Scattering, Matter Waves and Bohr's Atomic Model we learn about Old Quantum Theory. READ MORE

  5. 5. Review of Black-hole Amplitudes

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk fysik

    Author : Chen Huang; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Abstract: In this review, we referred to several recent works about the black-hole amplitudes. By regarding the black holes as elementary particles, we wrote down the amplitudeswhich describe the black-hole graviton scattering. READ MORE
