    University essay from Lunds universitet/Ekonomisk-historiska institutionen

    Author : Andrea Cavallo; [2023]
    Keywords : Sicilian Mafia; organized crime; government trust; Covid-19; vaccination campaign.; Social Sciences; Law and Political Science; Business and Economics;

    Abstract : Do municipalities in which organized crime is strongly established present lower Covid-19 vaccination rates, as a proxy for government trust? This paper aims to answer this question in the specific case of the Italian region of Sicily. Specifically, the analysis exploits a panel dataset of 390 Sicilian municipalities over 107 weeks (between the 27th of December 2020 and the 1st of January 2023) to study if areas with a higher presence of the Mafia, measured through historical sources and more recent data, negatively correlate with the cumulative weekly percentage of Covid-19 vaccinations per municipality. 2. 2. Exposure Monitoring and Dosimetry - Optimizing Radiation Protection in Interventional Cardiology

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik; Umeå universitet/Institutionen för strålningsvetenskaper

    Author : Amanda Pettersson; [2023]
    Keywords : Interventional cardiology; Radiation protection; Air kerma measurements; Radiation shielding; Projection angle;

    Abstract : During interventional cardiology (IC), medical staff are exposed to scattered ionizing radiation from the patient, potentially leading to various radiation-induced health effects. Therefore, shielding devices are routinely used to reduce occupational exposure during IC procedures. READ MORE

  3. 3. Study of surfactant-preservative and protein-preservative interactions in multi-dose injectable formulation

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Javier Lagares Martín; [2023]
    Keywords : Phenol; polysorbate 80; cloud point; somatropin; aggregation; titration; light scattering; salt; surfactant; preservative; protein; tonicity adjusting agents; multi-dose injectable formulation; pharmaceutical technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Multidose injectable formulations require a preservative such as phenol to ensure sterility and protection against microbial contamination during clinical use. However, it is known that the interaction between these components and non-ionic surfactants such as polysorbate 80, also found in this type of formulations, present incompatibilities, which can lead to decreases in the efficacy of the product. Author : André Wirthig; [2023]
    Keywords : Vibrations; High frequency floors; Sensitive equipment; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : There is an increased need for floors that can accommodate different type of sensitive equipment [1]. Further, it is recommended to design these floors as high frequency floors (HFF) to be able to meet the stringent vibration criteria [1]. READ MORE

  5. 5. Feasibility of quantitative 99mTc-DPD scintigraphy SPECT/CT for assessing the burden of ATTR cardiac amyloidosis

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Radiofysik

    Author : Sajad Kadhim Khalaf; [2023]
    Keywords : QSPECT; Amyloidosis; ATTR; LVMI; Recovery Coefficient; SUV; Calibration;

    Abstract : Background: Amyloid transthyretin (ATTR) cardiomyopathy is caused by the deposition of misfolded proteins, known as amyloid fibrils, in the myocardium. Quantitative Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (QSPECT) utilizing 99mTc-DPD scintigraphy has the potential to assess ATTR-suspected cardiac amyloidosis (CA). READ MORE
