  1. 1. Research and Testing of an Electromechanical solution for Vibration Assisted Drilling of Aerospace Materials

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Solcellsteknik

    Author : Jonathan Nordenholm; [2020]
    Keywords : vibration; drilling; chips; aerospace; advanced drilling unit;

    Abstract : This thesis considers vibration drilling in aerospace materials. The tolerances of the drilled holes in aerospace industry are very low since hole quality is an important factor. Conventional methods of drilling create long ribbon formed chips that increases the heat formation and decreases the hole quality. READ MORE

  2. 2. Evaluation of a Programmable Hydraulic Valve for Drill Rig Applications

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Fluida och mekatroniska system; Linköpings universitet/Fluida och mekatroniska system

    Author : Jonathan de Brun Mangs; Mikael Tillquist; [2018]
    Keywords : Hydraulic valve; CAN; Drill rig; Rock drill; Blast hole drilling; Time delays; Ziegler-Nichols; PI-control;

    Abstract : The increase of intelligent systems can be seen in every industry. Integrated sensors and processors are used with internal control systems to create better performance for mobile hydraulic applications. The report describes how an evaluation was made to see if the productivity of a drill rig could be increased. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling and interpretation of VTEM data from Soppero, Sweden

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Geovetenskap och miljöteknik

    Author : Linnéa Johansson; [2017]
    Keywords : Transient electromagnetic; geophysics; geophysical modelling; Soppero;

    Abstract : The geological and geophysical knowledge about the northernmost part of Sweden has recently increased due to the Barents project, which includes acquisition of modern geophysical and geological information on behalf of the Swedish Geological Survey (SGU). During August 2013, a helicopter-borne versatile time domain electromagnetic (VTEM) survey was performed by Geotech Ltd, in the Soppero area northeast of Kiruna. READ MORE

  4. 4. Evaluation of the differences in characterization and classification of the rock mass quality : A comparison between pre-investigation, engineering geological forecast and tunnel mapping in the Northern Link project and the Cityline project

    University essay from KTH/Jord- och bergmekanik

    Author : Mehdi Benhalima; [2016]
    Keywords : Characterization; classification; rock mass quality; engineering geological forecast; tunnel mapping; discontinuities; Q-system; Northern Link;

    Abstract : In the construction of a tunnel, the characterization of the rock mass is performed in three different steps, in the pre-investigations, in the engineering geological forecast and in the tunnel mapping during construction. There has in previous work been observed that discrepancies exist between the results from these different steps, with a tendency to assign poorer rock mass quality in the tunnel mapping than in the pre-investigations and in the engineering geological forecast. 5. 5. Development of new rotation concept for rock drills

    University essay from KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)

    Author : Akepati Bhaskar Reddy; [2015]
    Keywords : hydraulic motor; rock drill; rotation; hydraulisk motor; borrmaskin; vridning;

    Abstract : In blast hole drilling, it is desirable to be able to drill as close as possible to the edge of the tunnel. The minimum distance from the edge is defined by the radial size of the rockdrill. Most of the rock drills used today have a rotation motor that rotates an axel parallel to the shank, which further rotates the shank through a gear set. READ MORE
