  1. 1. Global Warming Induced by Oceanic Anoxic Event 1a Had a Pronounced Impact on the Early Cretaceous Terrestrial Vegetation of Southern Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Paleobiologi

    Author : Marcos Amores; [2022]
    Keywords : palynology; spore-pollen; biostratigraphy; oceanic anoxic event 1a; high-latitude; Early Cretaceous;

    Abstract : The Mesozoic is punctuated by several rapid global warming events that are marked by the worldwide deposition of organic-rich marine sediments. These events, known as oceanic anoxic events (OAEs), are characterised by intervals where the worldwide carbon cycle suffers a disruption due to major palaeoceanographic and climatic shifts, leading to anoxic marine environments and the creation of black shales. 2. 2. Submarine Alteration of Seamount Rocks in the Canary Islands: Insights from Mineralogy, Trace Elements, and Stable Isotopes

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Aduragbemi Oluwatobi Sofade; [2018]
    Keywords : Canary Islands; seamounts; submarine alteration; trace elements; nannofossils; Kanarieöarna; djuphavsberg; undervattensomvandling; spårämnen; nanofossiler;

    Abstract : Seamounts play an important role in facilitating the exchange of elements between the oceanic lithosphere and the overlying seawater. This water-rock interaction is caused by circulating seawater and controls the chemical exchange in submarine and sub-seafloor rocks. READ MORE

  3. 3. Dinosaur Warfare: Ankylosaur and Theropod Coevolution

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Christopher Freer; [2017]
    Keywords : ankylosaur; theropod; coevolution; phenotypic mismatch; red queen; tyrannosaurid; ankylosaurier; theropoder; samevolution; phenotypic mismatch; röd drottning; tyrannosaurid;

    Abstract : Ankylosauria is a clade of armoured dinosaurs that, throughout the Mesozoic, demonstrates divergent evolution of defensive traits, between the robust spikes and osteoderms of nodosaurids to the ankylosaurid tail clubs and lightweight armour. One of the longer-standing hypotheses, which is supported by histological data, stipulates that armament was a direct result of a predator-prey relationship between theropods and ankylosaurians. 4. 4. Sedimentological study of the Jurassic and Cretaceous sequence in the Revinge-1 core, Scania

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Casandra Hajny; [2016]
    Keywords : Jura; Krita; Vomb; Fyledalen; Vitabäck; Arnagergrönsand; Mollusker; Bivalver; Palynologi; Biostra-tigrafi; Vulkanism; Pyrit; Järnooider; Jurassic; Cretaceous; Vomb Trough; Vitabäck Clay; Fyledal Clay; Arnager Greensand; Molluscs; Bivalves; Palynology; Biostratigraphy; Volcanism; Pyrite; Iron ooids; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a study of the core from the Revinge-1 borehole from the Vomb Trough. The core displays strata from the Upper Jurassic to the Upper Cretaceous including strata covering the the J/K−boundary . READ MORE

  5. 5. Disparity of Early Cretaceous Lamniformes sharks

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Fredrik Söderblom; [2015]
    Keywords : Lamniformes; disparity; Early Cretaceous; morphology; morphometric; Lamniformes; disparitet; tidig krita; morfologi; morfometri;

    Abstract : The geological range of lamniform sharks stretches from present day species such as Carcharodon carcharias (great white shark) back to the at the moment oldest undoubted fossil finds during the Early Cretaceous. In this paper a geometric morphometric analysis was performed on images of Early Cretaceous lamniform teeth collected from published literature in order to examine the change in disparity (range of morphological variation within a group) throughout the time period.
