  1. 1. Simulations of a self-stabilizing fully submerged hydrofoil

    University essay from KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Author : Henry Jacobson; [2023]
    Keywords : Hydrofoil; Self-Stabilizing; Lifting Line Theory; Fluid Mechanics; Numerical Methods; Backward Differentiation Formula; Fully Submerged Hydrofoil; Bärplan; bärplansbåt; självstabiliserande; lyftande linjeteori; strömningsme- kanik; numeriska metoder; Backward Differentiation Formula; fullt nedsänkt bärplan;

    Abstract : Two models of a self-stabilizing hydrofoil system is developed where the effects from the struts and hydrofoil give torques for angular rotations. Lifting line theory for the hydrofoil which can twist is used. Nonlinear versions of the models are also developed and compared to find that the linear models use valid approximations. READ MORE

  2. 2. Relating the Arnoldi approximation to the best Chebyshev approximation of the characteristic polynomial - A study using a complex valued variant of the Remez algorithm

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten); Lunds universitet/Matematikcentrum

    Author : Thomas Renström; [2022]
    Keywords : Chebyshev; Arnoldi; Remez; Tang; approximation; matrix; complex; characteristic polynomial; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : The Remez algorithm is a beautiful algorithm that finds the best approximation to a function by finding points satisfying the alternation condition. In 1987 Ping Tang published his doctoral thesis detailing a version of the Remez algorithm modified for functions of complex values with complex coefficients. READ MORE

  3. 3. Predicting eigenvalues and eigenmodes in non-rectangular rooms with machine learning techniques

    University essay from KTH/Teknisk akustik

    Author : Oscar Lundin; [2022]
    Keywords : Machine learning; Finite elements; Plane wave decomposition; ResNet; Room acoustics; Tensorflow; Keras; Eigenfrequency prediction; Maskininlärning; Finita elementmetoden; Planvåguppdelning decomposition; Rumsakustik; ResNet; Tensorflow; Keras; Prediktering av egenvärden; Egenfrekvenser; Egenmoder.;

    Abstract : Knowing the eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes is of great importance to interior design and a common acoustic engineering problem. Challenges in noise control makes knowing the lower eigenfrequencies particularly important. READ MORE

  4. 4. A Trust-Region Method for Multiple Shooting Optimal Control

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Shaohui Yang; [2022]

    Abstract : In recent years, mobile robots have gained tremendous attention from the entire society: the industry is aiming at selling more intelligent products while the academia is improving their performance from all perspectives. Real world examples include autnomous driving vehicles, multirotors, legged robots, etc. READ MORE

  5. 5. Systems of linear nonautonomous differential equations - Instability and eigenvalues with negative real part

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematik LTH; Lunds universitet/Matematik (naturvetenskapliga fakulteten)

    Author : Jenny Riesbeck; [2020]
    Keywords : Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : For an autonomous system of linear differential equations we are able to determine stability and instability with classical criteria, by looking at the eigenvalues. If the system is stable, all the eigenvalues have negative real part and if the system is unstable, there exist at least one eigenvalue with positive real part. READ MORE
