  1. 21. ”The shrieking of nothing is killing me” : Representations of society of the spectacle and hyperreality in David Bowie’s lyrics

    University essay from Mittuniversitetet/Institutionen för humaniora och samhällsvetenskap

    Author : Mariann Gabrielsson; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : This text explores how the lyrics of David Bowie can be applied as supporting the critique against hyperreality and society of the spectacle, as articulated by Guy Debord and Jean Baudrillard. This is done by focusing on three questions: 1) what elements in Bowie’s lyrics support Debord and Baudrillard, 2) how can these elements function to portray Bowie as primarily a sociologist and secondly an artist, and 3) what are the benefits of using fiction (in this case lyrics) as empirical material? From a theoretical framework building on Debord’s society of the spectacle and Baudrillard’s focus on hyperreality, I will apply a two-folded methodology of sociology through literature and socio-poetics. 2. 22. Mikroplaster i damm från ridunderlag - pilotstudie

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry

    Author : Niklas Nilsson; [2023]
    Keywords : fibersand; underlag; häst; nedbrytning;

    Abstract : Ridsporten är en av de största ungdomsidrotterna inom Sverige. År 2018 beräknades det att cirka 5 miljoner ridtimmar genomförs på landets ridskolor årligen. På grund av Sveriges klimat spenderas mycket av denna tid inom ridhus. READ MORE

  3. 23. Anisotropic Muscle Phantoms for Shear Wave Elastography Assessment of the Levator Ani Muscle Properties

    University essay from KTH/Medicinteknik och hälsosystem

    Author : Bleona Koxha; Melissa Jova Martinez; [2023]
    Keywords : pelvic floor disorder; levator ani muscle; shear wave elastography; phantom; anisotropy; polyvinyl alcohol; bäckenbottenbesvär; levator ani muskel; shear wave elastografi; fantom; anisotropi; polyvinylalkohol;

    Abstract : Pelvic floor disorder is an emerging research area and is highlighted in many pelvic floor studies. Assessment methods for this type of injury are lacking and new methods for prevention and diagnosis are needed. Pelvic floor disorders are common among women and can lead to suffering for the patient. READ MORE

  4. 24. Fragile Foal Syndrome (FFS) inverkan på hoppförmåga och exteriör hos svenska varmblod (SWB) : varför hoppar hästar med samma mutation på olika sätt?

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and Genetics

    Author : Kajsa Nyström; [2023]
    Keywords : Ehler-Danlos Syndrom; exteriör; Fragile Foal Syndrome FFS ; genetik; hoppförmåga; svenska varmblod SWB ;

    Abstract : Fragile Foal Syndrome (FFS) är en genetisk sjukdom som drabbar hästar. Sjukdomen karaktäriseras av svag och ömtålig bindväv. Detta bidrar till att individer homozygota för anlaget aborteras eller avlivas direkt efter fölning. Syndromet beror på en mutation som påverkar i kollagenproduktion, vilken nedärvs autosomalt recessivt. READ MORE

  5. 25. Multi-Scale Topology Optimization of Lattice Structures Using Machine Learning

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Julia Ibstedt; [2023]
    Keywords : Topology optimization; Multi-scale topology optimization; Machine learning; Gaussian process; Homogenization; Inverse homogenization; Anisotropic materials; Symmetry groups; Material property space; Topologioptimering; Flerskalig topologioptimering; Maskininlärning; Gaussian process; Homogenisering; Anisotropa material; Symmetrigrupper; Materialegenskapsrymd;

    Abstract : This thesis explores using multi-scale topology optimization (TO) by utilizing inverse homogenization to automate the adjustment of each unit-cell's geometry and placement in a lattice structure within a pressure vessel (the design domain) to achieve desired structural properties. The aim is to find the optimal material distribution within the design domain as well as desired material properties at each discretized element and use machine learning (ML) to map microstructures with corresponding prescribed effective properties.
