  1. 1. Wetland restoration on Öland : a short-term evaluation of vascular plant community composition after topsoil removal and reinstated grazing

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Author : Marta Holmlund; [2023]
    Keywords : wetland restoration; vegetation; biodiversity; topsoil removal; Ellenberg indicator values;

    Abstract : Wetlands are recognized as important types of ecosystems, inhabiting rich biodiversity and performing multiple ecosystem services. However, many have been lost because of anthropogenic activities and a majority of the remaining wetland habitats are in bad conditions, displaying both loss of functionality and biodiversity. 2. 2. The effects of management practices and environmental variables on the biodiversity of Nardus grasslands in the national park Hohe Tauern, Austria

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Author : Rebecca Paulina Dörner; [2023]
    Keywords : biodiversity; Nardus stricta; Nardus grassland; national park Hohe Tauern; East Tyrol; alpine pastures;

    Abstract : Introduction. A large part of the biodiversity of the Alps is linked to an interaction between the natural environment and traditional land-use practices. This study focuses on the priority habitat type of species rich Nardus grasslands (Natura 2000 Code 6230*), which is endangered, but continues to thrive in extensively managed subalpine pastures. 4. 4. Floristic change in the province of Scania in southernmost Sweden 1800-2020: using fragmented data to study landscape-level shifts

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i biologi

    Author : Cassandra Hallman; [2020]
    Keywords : Biology and Life Sciences;

    Abstract : Vascular plant observances were compiled for 10 well-documented parishes throughout southernmost Sweden from published floras, herbarium specimens, modern inventories, and a large citizen-science database to provide presence/absence of species from 1800-2020 at the decade level. A regionally-specific database of species-specific plant traits and ecological indicator values was used to examine floristic and ecological changes across an extended timeline which indicates that several of the most apparent conservation issues including climate warming, woody encroachment, and soil chemistry alterations have acted for long over a century.
