  1. 1. A study of optical and structural properties of spin-coated V2O3 thin films on sapphire substrates

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi

    Author : Jennifer Silander; [2022]
    Keywords : Optical properties; transmittance; FTIR spectrometry; scanning electron microscopy; x-ray diffraction; metal-insulator transition; crystalline material; sol-gel; spin-coating; vanadium oxide; infrared light;

    Abstract : Many transition metal oxides exhibit a Metal-Insulator Transition (MIT). This is an interesting phenomenon where the material undergoes a structural phase transition, and the electronic charge is redistributed in the crystal lattice. READ MORE

  2. 2. Biomimetically improved materials comprising microfibrillated cellulose

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Kemiska institutionen

    Author : Cornelia Byström; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) is a renewable, cellulosic material mainly producedfrom wood fibers, which are found in the secondary cell walls of plant cells. With theincreased demand for renewable biopolymer films in packaging, MFC has emerged asa potential alternative to non-renewable polymer films. READ MORE

  3. 3. Behaviour of Boron Isotopes During Magmatic Degassing and Application to B-Rich Volcanic Glassfrom Lesbos, Greece

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Konstantinos Thomaidis; [2017]
    Keywords : boron isotopes; volcanic glass; SIMS; magmatic degassing; Lesbos Island; borisotoper; vulkaniskt glas; SIMS; magmatisk avgasning; Lesbos;

    Abstract : Boron is a fluid mobile trace element and is routinely employed as a tracer of slab-derived fluids in subduction zones since the heavy isotope (11B) preferentially partitions into the fluid phase during slab dehydration. However, it has been shown experimentally that boron isotopes (expressed as δ11B) can fractionate by up to several permil (‰) during subsequent magmatic evolution and degassing at high temperature, calling into doubt the fidelity of boron isotopes in volcanic glass as accurate tracers of slab degassing. 4. 4. Evaluation of Esterification as a Valorization Route for Oxidized Lignin

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Industriell miljö- och processteknik

    Author : Johanna Lindmark; [2017]
    Keywords : Lignin; Kraft Lignin; Esterification; Peracetic Acid; Oxidized Lignin; Muconic Acid; Vanillic Acid;

    Abstract : RISE Bioeconomy is working with the biorefinery concept. That is, for the company, to utilize all wood derivatives in effective processes, resulting in unique products. RISE Bioeconomy is investigating the possibilities of producing holocellulose through an oxidative delignification process of wood, using peracetic acid (PAA). READ MORE

  5. 5. Lake condition changes of a boreal lake over the past ca. 6500 years based on varve geochemistry

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Author : Jora Ligtenberg; [2017]
    Keywords : varved lake sediment; total element concentrations; biogenic silica; lake-water organic carbon; Holocene;

    Abstract : The purpose of this study was to assess changes in the in-lake conditions of lake Kassjön, northern Sweden, in response to environmental and climate changes over the past ca. 6500 years. READ MORE
