  1. 1. SOIL GROSS NITROGEN MINERALISATION AND FOREST GROWTH IN FOUR HEMIBOREAL FOREST STANDS IN SOUTHWEST SWEDEN

    University essay from Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskap

    Author : Linnéa Eriksson; [2023-04-20]
    Keywords : soil C:N; forest production; 15N isotope dilution; gross N mineralisation; ammonium; soil carbon; soil nitrogen; root exudates; stoichiometric decomposition; boreal forests; priming; microbial C limitation;

    Abstract : Boreal and temperate forests together make up the largest terrestrial net C sink in the world. They take up carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere and store it in plant biomass and soil as they grow, making them crucial in mitigating global climate change. READ MORE

  2. 2. Ovary spheroid formation and quality assessment using two different protocols

    University essay from KTH/Proteinvetenskap

    Author : Nikki Wallius Hiltunen; [2023]
    Keywords : ovary; fertility; spheroid; Biosilk™; three-layer gradient system; äggstock; fertilitet; sfäroid; Biosilk™; trelagers gradientsystem;

    Abstract : Redan innan födseln fastställs kvinnors fertilitet, som karakteriseras av ett begränsat antal äggblåsor, så kallade folliklar. Beståndet av folliklar minskar naturligt med åldern, samtidigt som kvinnors fertilitet beror på deras steroid- och äggproduktion. READ MORE

  3. 3. Långsiktig torvnedbrytning för olika vegetationstyper på dikad skogsmark

    University essay from SLU/School for Forest Management

    Author : Carl Carlsson; Sofie Jönsson; [2023]
    Keywords : växthusgaser; torvmark; dikning;

    Abstract : Skogsklädda torvmarker i Sverige dikades i stor utsträckning mellan 1930- och 1980-talen i syfte att höja virkesproduktionen. Till följd av klimatproblemet har intresset för dikade torvmarkers bidrag till växthusgasutsläppen ökat under de senaste decennierna. READ MORE

  4. 4. IMPACT OF CRYOPRESERVATION MEDIA ON SPERM MOTILITY

    University essay from

    Author : Stephanie Petersen; [2014]
    Keywords : Osmatic chock; Cryopreservation; Gradient centrifugation; Sperm progression;

    Abstract : The result of cryopreservation of semen is crucial for patients in need of fertility preservation.The cryopreservation method is not optimized since only 10 % the sperms are expected tosurvive the treatment. The sperms are exposed to many risk factors such as oxidative stress,osmotic chock and ice crystallization. READ MORE

  5. 5. Variation in protein precipitation and phenolic content within and among species across an elevational gradient in subarctic Sweden

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Author : Elin Olofsson; [2010]
    Keywords : Phenolic compounds; Protein complexation; Elevational gradient; Subarctic; Fertility gradient;

    Abstract : This project investigated how elevation and vegetation type influences variation in plant litter phenolic content and protein precipitation capacity among and within common plant species for two different vegetation types, heath and meadow, in a subarctic ecosystem in the Abisko region of northern Sweden. As nutrient availability generally decreases with increasing elevation as a result of decreasing temperature, I hypothesised that phenolic content would increase with elevation and be higher on the heath than the meadow.
