  1. 1. Combustibility study of resin for warm magnet coils used at CERN

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Brandteknik

    Author : Juan Carlos Lopez Santiago; [2023]
    Keywords : Epoxy resin; flammability; radiation; aging; cone calorimeter; micro combustion calorimeter; thermogravimetric analysis; lateral ignition and flame spread test; chemical composition of polymers; polymers; epoxy composite; polymer composite; failure of epoxy resins; magnetic coil; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : CERN is the world's largest particle physics laboratory, housing multiple accelerators that rely heavily on magnetic coils. These coils are integral to the generation of powerful magnetic fields essential for particle accelerator experiments, detectors, and other equipment. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of chemical kinetic mechanisms for combustion of hydrocarbons with fluorinated compounds

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik

    Author : Frej Ryde; [2021]
    Keywords : Combustion; Simulation; Flame propagation speed; Ignition delay time; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Electric vehicles are becoming more common as one of many solutions to the increasingly serious problem of global warming. This comes with new safety challenges as batteries can upon malfunction or abuse enter thermal runaway and as a result catch fire or explode. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Potential of Esters as Renewable Fuels: Determination of Laminar Burning Velocities

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Anas Ali Hamdi Bnayan; [2013]
    Keywords : Laminar burning velocity; Flame speed; Heat flux method; Ester fuels; renewable energy; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The Potential of Esters as Renewable Fuels: Determination of Laminar Burning Velocities Biodiesel fuel is widely used as a clean fuel in car engines. Ester fuels are a one kind of a biodiesel fuel which includes many chemical compounds. Due to their chemical and physical properties these esters are difficult to investigate in a laboratory. 4. 4. Development and Validation of a Turbulent Flame Propagation Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Simon Bjerkborn; [2011]
    Keywords : Combustion physics; flame propagation; engine simulations; SI engines; Bjerkborn; Simon Bjerkborn; Loge AB; Loge; SRM; Stochastic Reactor Model; Monte Carlo; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to develop a model for flame propagation, to implement in a zero-dimensional engine simulation tool (DARS 0d-SRM) which previously only used fitted Wiebe-functions to describe the flame propagation. The idea was to create a model which could replace or complement the Wiebe function, but with predictive capabilities, avoiding the need to perform curve-fitting when certain parameters are changed.
