  1. 1. Spectral broadening of 4 mJ femtosecond pulses using a bulk multi-pass cell

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Saga Westerberg; [2023]
    Keywords : Lasers; Ultrashort; Nonlinear Optics; femtosecond; Multi-Pass Cell; Spectral broadening; pulse post-compression; Self phase modulation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Nonlinear optical effects can be used for spectral broadening, which the basis of the field of post-compression of laser pulses. When the intensity of light becomes high enough the refractive index becomes intensity dependent, and as the intensity often varies both with position and time so does the refractive index. 2. 2. Optical FRAME: Investigating the effects of filtering the optical Fourier domain to be used as a new approach for FRAME

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Sam Taylor; [2020]
    Keywords : Fourier Optics FRAME Ultra-fast imaging; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Many important scientific phenomena require ultra-fast imaging to understand and investigate the characteristics of the event. Current methods of ultra-fast imaging that can obtain femtosecond time resolution rely on repeatable events or limiting the techniques versatility by completely remove the use of a dimension e.g. colour. 3. 3. Towards the control of photo-ionization with electron wave-packet interferences

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Synkrotronljusfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Andreas Stokkeland; [2020]
    Keywords : XUV attosecond pulses; photoelectron distribution; photoionization; phase shift; electron wave-packet interference; infrared field; IR-field; frequency components; Fourier transform; XUV photons; frequency domain; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this work the photoelectric effect is explored through simulations of the phase shift that an IR-field can induce into an electron wave packet and the photoelectron distribution over frequency components that is produced in the photoionization of an atom with a attosecond pulses made of XUV photons. The IR-field is sent along two attosecond pulses made of XUV photons towards a 3D momentum spectrometer were there is a gas that can be photoionized and the photoelectrons can be measured. READ MORE

  4. 4. Periodic and Non-Periodic Filter Structures in Lasers

    University essay from KTH/Matematik (Avd.)

    Author : Leo Enge; [2020]
    Keywords : Laser; Grating Filters; Perturbation Theory; WKB Approximation; Bi-cubic Splines; Laser; optiska filter; störningsteori; WKB-approximation; bi-kubiska splines;

    Abstract : Communication using fiber optics is an integral part of modern societies and one of the most important parts of this is the grating filter of a laser. In this report we introduce both the periodic and the non-periodic grating filter and discuss how there can be resonance in these structures. READ MORE
