  1. 11. μLEDs for optogenetics

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Lukas Wendt; [2018]
    Keywords : μLED; microLED; optogenetics; nitrides; platelets; LNL; epilepsy; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Optogenetics is unfolding new ways for us to study the nervous system and could one day be a standard approach to treat neurological diseases like epilepsy. To selectively study the effects on a subcellular level, microscopic light sources are needed. READ MORE

  2. 12. GaSb nanowire transistors with process induced strain

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Förbränningsfysik

    Author : Edvin Winqvist; [2017]
    Keywords : GaSb; gallium; antimonide; nanowire; transistor; strain; physics; thesis; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : With the constant downscaling of Si transistors reaching its limits, other alternatives have been actively researched the past decades. Group III-V semiconductors are excellent materials with generally high carrier mobilities that can replace Si in transistors. READ MORE

  3. 13. Evaluation of graphene as a transparent electrode in GaN-based LEDs by PECVD synthesis of graphene directly on GaN

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Linus Johansson; [2016]
    Keywords : PECVD; graphene; transparent electrode; gallium nitride; LED;

    Abstract : A transparent conductive electrode (TCE) is an important component in many of our modern optoelectronic devices like photovoltaics, light emitting diodes and touch screens. These devices require good current injection and spreading as well as a high transparency. READ MORE

  4. 14. Quantum Chemical Feasibility Study of Methylamines as Nitrogen Precursors in Chemical Vapor Deposition

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Kemi

    Author : Karl Rönnby; [2015]
    Keywords : Quantum Chemistry; Computational Chemistry; Density Functional Theory DFT ; B3LYP; Gaussian 4 G4 ; Chemical Vapor Deposition CVD ; Gallium Nitride GaN ; Aluminum Nitride AlN ; Ammonia NH3 ; Methylamine NH2CH3 ; Dimethylamine NH CH3 2 ; Trimethylamine NH CH3 3 ; Trimethylaluminum TMA ; Trimethylgallium TMG ; Decomposition; Adsorption;

    Abstract : The possibility of using methylamines instead of ammonia as a nitrogen precursor for the CVD of nitrides is studied using quantum chemical computations of reaction energies: reaction electronic energy (Δ𝑟𝐸𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑐) reaction enthalpy (Δ𝑟𝐻) and reaction free energy (Δ𝑟𝐺). The reaction energies were calculated for three types of reactions: Uni- and bimolecular decomposition to more reactive nitrogen species, adduct forming with trimethylgallium (TMG) and trimethylaluminum (TMA) followed by a release of methane or ethane and surface adsorption to gallium nitride for both the unreacted ammonia or methylamines or the decomposition products. 5. 15. Scanning probe microscopy with gallium nitride nanowires

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Fasta tillståndets fysik

    Author : Victor Ahlinder; [2015]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In scanning probe microscopy the properties of the tip is crucial in determining which information that can be obtained from the resulting images and spectroscopy. Ordinarily metal tips are used for scanning, however by using semiconducting nanowires as tips one would have very well defined probes with more advanced possibilities for spectroscopic measurements.
