  1. 1. Unraveling the Tectonic History of the Aurek Metagabbro within the Seve Nappe Complex, Scandinavian Caledonides

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Sabine Rousku; [2021]
    Keywords : Scandinavian Caledonides; Seve Nappe Complex; Aurek metagabbro; Kebnekaise Mountains; Zircon U-Pb Geochronology; Thermodynamic modeling; Geochemistry; Skandinaviska Kaledoniderna; Seveskollan; Aurek metagabbro; Kebnekaisebergen; zirkon U-Pb geokronologi; Termodynamisk modellering; Geokemi;

    Abstract : The Scandinavian Caledonides form a mountain range comprising nappe stacks of numerous far-travelled thrust sheets. The thrust sheets consist of diverse lithologies representing pre- and synorogenic sedimentary and igneous rocks subsequently metamorphosed to various degrees, from the Late Neoproterozoic to Middle Devonian. 2. 2. Studie i att utöka arealen rikkärr i Skåne - Med exempel på hur tre rikkärr kan utökas

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Examensarbeten i biologi

    Author : Marcus Ljungdahl Brönmark; [2020]
    Keywords : Biology and Life Sciences;

    Abstract : Rich fens contribute with numerous ecosystem services, such as the highest biodiversity found among wetlands, water purification, carbon sequestration, hydrological services, recreational and educational services are all part of services provided from rich fens. Drainage and land-use change has severely damaged or destroyed these services in many regions of Europe and Sweden; restoration plans are needed to change this trend. READ MORE

  3. 3. Cr-spinels in the Franklinian Mobile Belt : a geochemical record of Paleozoic tectonics

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för geologiska vetenskaper

    Abstract : The chemical compositions of Cr-spinel extracted from mafic and ultramafic rocks collected on Ellesmere Island in the Arctic Canadian Archipelago were obtained through electron microprobe analyses. The extensively altered rocks are sampled from rock units in the Franklinian MobileBelt, which is representative of a Paleozoic tectonically active oceanic regime of which little is presently known. 4. 4. Implications of Magma and Bedrock Interaction, a Study of Xenopumice from La Palma, the Canary Islands

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Author : Beatrice Jägerup; [2019]
    Keywords : La Palma; xenopumice; phreatomagmatism; whole rock geochemistry; oxygen isotopes; La Palma; felsiska xenoliter; explosiv vulkanism; geokemi; syreisotoper;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on frothy, felsic xenoliths called ‘xenopumice’, that were retrieved from La Palma during a 10–day field campaign in December 2018. There are only few descriptions of these frothty xenoliths, and a consensus on their origin has not yet been achieved. READ MORE

  5. 5. U-Pb geochronology of the Tsineng dyke swarm and paleomagnetism of the Hartley Basalt Formation, South Africa : evidence for two separate magmatic events at 1.93 – 1.92 and 1.88 – 1.84 Ga in the Kalahari craton

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Author : Farnaz Alebouyeh Semami; [2014]
    Keywords : Kaapvaal; Tsineng; Hartley; baddeleyite; U-Pb geochronology; paleomagnetism; polar wander path; Kalahari; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Robust geochronology and well-constrained paleopoles are the main tools for paleogeographic reconstructions. Through the completion of so called barcode diagrams (matching of coeval events of mafic magmatism between blocks) and determination of the apparent polar wander paths, these studies provide a better understanding of the position of continents and supercontinents in the past.
