    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis is to investigate how women in Cape Town reflect over and deal with HIV/AIDS in their everyday lives and also how they explain the cause and spread of the virus. The thesis is based on two months of fieldwork in Cape Town, South Africa, where I got the opportunity to interview three women about HIV/AIDS and how they related to the disease as well as how people in general relate to it.
