  1. 16. Understanding the correlation between molecular structure of chilled dairy creams and the risk of environmental stress cracking in Tetra Pak® carton packages

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Alejandra Fernandez Castaneda; [2022]
    Keywords : Cream; microestructure; environmental stress cracking; food technology and nutrition; Agriculture and Food Sciences;

    Abstract : Multilayer food packaging are lined with an inner layer of plastic and has excellent barrier properties. However, plastics lose their mechanical properties after being exposed to certain conditions; the combination of factors generates failures in the material such as the appearance of cracks, this phenomenon is known as environmental stress cracking (ESC). 2. 17. Micromechanical modelling of creep in wooden materials

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Oskar Falkeström; Kevin Coleman; Malin Nilsson; [2021]
    Keywords : Creep; RVE; Homogenization; Honeycomb; Tracheid; Comsol Multiphysics; Micromechanical modelling; Orthotropic; Parametric study; S2 material; Norwegian Spruce; Scots Pine; Cell geometry;

    Abstract : Wood is a complex organic orthotropic viscoelastic material with acellular structure. When stressed, wood will deform over timethrough a process called creep. Creep affects all wooden structureand can be difficult, time-consuming and expensive to measure. For this thesis, a simple computer model of the woodenmicrostructure was developed. READ MORE

  3. 18. Homogenization of an elliptic transmission system modeling the flux of oxygen from blood vessels to tissues

    University essay from

    Author : Filippo Di Tillio; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Motivated by the study of the hypoxia problem in cancerous tissues, we propose a system of coupled partial differential equations defined on a heterogeneous, periodically perforated  domain describing the flux of oxygen from blood vessels towards the tissue and the corresponding oxygen diffusion within the tissue. Using heuristics based on dimensional analysis, we rephrase the initially parabolic problem as a semi-linear elliptic transmission problem. READ MORE

  4. 19. Conforming building models derived in Esri's environment to the Swedish national specification for 3D data

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Gudrun Jensdóttir; [2021]
    Keywords : Geomatics; GIS; 3D building models; 3D city models; conversion; Esri FileGDB; spatial ETL; FME; MultiPatch; national standard; NS building; transformation; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Three-dimensional (3D) city models are increasingly utilized among stakeholders of different sectors, particularly those dealing with building information. 3D city models are a three-dimensional digital representation of urban structures, most prominently buildings. READ MORE

  5. 20. Diversity patterns and composition of wild bee communities (Hymenoptera: Anthophila) in Swedish boreal forests under different management regimes

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Author : Jaime Ramón Luna Santa-María; [2021]
    Keywords : wild bees; Anthophila; forest management; functional diversity; landscape ecology; inventory diversity; boreal forest;

    Abstract : Intensive forest management has led to forest homogenization with associated changes to biodiversity. Compensatory actions have been taken to counteract the negative effects of these practices on biodiversity, but the effectiveness of these actions depends both on which scale they are evaluated and the group of species they are addressed to.
