  1. 6. A 3D-printed Fat-IBC-enabled prosthetic arm : Communication protocol and data representation

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Fasta tillståndets elektronik

    Author : Johan Engstrand; [2020]
    Keywords : prosthetic arm; bionic arm; 3D-printing; intra-body communication; ibc; fat tissue; fat-ibc; arduino; xbee; 802.15.4; cobs; cobs r; packet loss; serial transmission; armprotes; 3D-utskrift; intrakroppslig kommunikation; fettvävnad; paketförlust; seriell överföring;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to optimize the design of the Fat-IBC-based communication of a novel neuroprosthetic system in which a brain-machine interface is used to control a prosthetic arm. Fat-based intra-body communication (Fat-IBC) uses the fat tissue inside the body of the bearer as a transmission medium for low-power microwaves. READ MORE

  3. 8. Wireless electrocardiogram based on ultra-wideband communications

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Signaler och System

    Author : Maria Toll; [2019]
    Keywords : UWB; ECG; EKG; ultra-wideband; electrocardiogram; ultra wideband; radio communication; Decawave; DW1000; IoT; internet of things; Android; IEEE 802.15.4-2011;

    Abstract : The goal for this master thesis is to develop a prototype that uses ultra-wideband (UWB) communications to wirelessly transfer electrocardiogram (ECG) data from an ECG measurement unit to an Android device (smartphone or similar) which is used to process and display the ECG signals. The prototype should consist of two hardware nodes; (1) Node one having a ECG measurement unit (an AD8232 single lead heart rate monitor), an UWB communication module (a Decawave DWM1000 module) and a microcontroller (an Arduino DUE); and (2) Node two having an Android device (an Android smartphone), an UWB communication module (a Decawave DWM1000 module) and a microcontroller (an Arduino DUE). 4. 9. FPGA Co-Processing in Software-Defined Radios

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Leon Fernandez; [2019]
    Keywords : Internet of Things; Software-Defined Radio; USRP; GNU Radio; IEEE 802.15.4; Sakernas Internet; Mjukvarudefinierad Radio; USRP; GNU Radio; IEEE 802.15.4;

    Abstract : The Internet of Things holds great promises for the future. In the smart cities of tomorrow, wireless connectivity of everyday objects is deemed essential in ensuring efficient and sustainable use of vital, yet limited resources such as water, electricity and food. However, radio communication at the required scale does not come easily. READ MORE

  5. 10. Virtualizing LoRa baseband functionalities to the Edge

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Patrik Vijayendra Walvekar; [2019]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Traditional network architecture design of Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) suffer from their inability to dynamically scale resources based on the incoming traffic and involve manual procedures for capacity upgrades. There is a need to develop a cloud-native architecture where the gateway hardware performs signal detection while baseband processing is virtualized in the Edge, provisioning for dynamic scaling of resources.
