  1. 1. Boundary Layer Studies above lake Erken using Modelling and UAV

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Author : Oliver Nordvall; [2020]
    Keywords : Internal Boundary Layer; UAV; Sea Breeze Circulation; Numerical Simulation; WRF; lake Erken; Internt gränsskikt; UAV; Sjöbris; Numerisk simulation; WRF; Erken;

    Abstract : Internal boundary layers (IBLs) above lakes, created primarily by the autumn differential of land and lake surface temperatures, present a unique way of studying the lake-atmosphere coupling within the boundary layer. The small and mobile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) contribute to new research areas within the boundary layer, offering high spatial resolution measurements to complement already existing observations. 2. 2. An Investigation of the Relation between Sea Breeze Circulation and Diurnal Variation of Methane at a Swedish Lake

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Author : Martin Svensson; [2015]
    Keywords : WRF model; Sea breeze; methane emission; diurnal variation; internal boundary layer; WRF-modellen; sjöbris; metanemission; dygnsvariation; internt gränsskikt;

    Abstract : Methane measurements over lake Tämnaren show a pronounced diurnal variation with high values at night and low values during daytime. The atmosphere over the lake and its surroundings is simulated with two different settings and resolutions of the WRF model during a period of eight days in May 2011 to investigate if a lake/land breeze circulation could be the cause of the observed methane variation. 3. 3. An investigation of the surface fluxes and other parameters in the regional climate model RCA1 during ice conditions

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Author : Camilla Tisell; [2004]
    Keywords : RCA; ERA-40; surface fluxes; Baltic Sea;

    Abstract : In this study data from the regional climate model RCA1 is compared to measured data to investigate how good the model is during ice conditions and mainly how well the turbulent surface fluxes are described by the model. Comparisons of the sensible heat flux and the momentum flux as well as mean parameters are included. READ MORE

  4. 4. The wind field in coastal areas

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Author : Niklas Sondell; [2001]
    Keywords : coastal meteorology; internal boundary layer; effect of surface properties; wind field; stability effects;

    Abstract : The land-sea transition in coastal areas makes the meteorological conditions rather complex and the structure of the coastal boundary layer is important for many reasons. Two examples are air pollution dispersion and wind energy potential. The wind field off the coast when offshore flow is present has been studied. READ MORE
