  1. 1. The myths and hazardous life of asphalt labourer : A pre-study on work environment and gender equality in the asphalt paving industry

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för ekonomi, teknik och samhälle

    Author : Pipar Julia Bahri; [2020]
    Keywords : Asphalt; road construction; male-dominated industries; safety work; gender equality; microwave heater; attractive workplace; Asfalt; vägarbete; mansdominerade industrier; säkerhetsarbete; jämställdhet; mikrovågsvärmare; attraktiva arbetsplatser;

    Abstract : Road construction work is often regarded to be a dirty and strenuous job. The asphalt paving industry is male-dominated with a low percentage of women. This master thesis is part of Human Work Sciences at Luleå University of Technology's participation in the SMMART (Swedish Magnetite Microwave Asphalt Road Technology) project. READ MORE

  2. 2. Lyman Continuum Radiation from Intermediate-Mass Black Holes : An Estimation of the Contribution of LyC Radiation from IMBHs in z~3 Galaxies

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Author : Marika Ljungberg; [2020]
    Keywords : intermediate-mass black holes; cosmic reionization; high-redshift galaxies;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the cosmic reionization of the intergalactic medium in the high redshift universe and, in particular, is a first approach to examine what role intermediate mass black holes (IMBHs) play in this cosmic age. Unexpectedly high values of hydrogen ionizing radiation, compared to current models, have been reported from galaxies at redshift ~3 (used as stand-ins for galaxies at the age of reionization), and thus these models need revision, potentially by adding effects of IMBH content in the galaxies. 3. 3. A Camera System for the KTH MIST Satellite

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Volkan Coskun; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The KTH MIST satellite will include a Camera System that should capture pictures of Earth from Space. Due to low Bandwidth, the satellite can traverse several lapses around the Earth until the picture is transmitted down to Earth. The picture is processed and the raw pixels stored in an on-board DRAM. READ MORE

  4. 4. Design and Evaluation of a 3D Printed Ionization Chamber

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH); KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Caroline Boström; Olivia Messler; [2019]
    Keywords : 3D printing; Ionization chamber; Gas-filled detectors;

    Abstract : Ionizing radiation is often used within medicine for diagnosis and treatments. Because ionizingradiation can be harmful to the body, it is important to know how it affects the tissue. Dosimetryis the study of how ionizing radiation deposits energy in a material. READ MORE

  5. 5. Radiation protection measurements in clinical practice - Dosimetry with NaCl pellets

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Petter Wilke; [2019]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Within the field of medical radiation protection, radiation safety and personal dosimetry, there is a constant pursuit for improving existing methods and evaluating new approaches for measuring and quantifying the radiation doses that hospital staff may be exposed to in their clinical work. There are numerous ways of determining what doses the staff are being exposed to and the most commonly used is based on thermoluminescent dosemeters (TLD) with e. READ MORE
