  1. 21. Environmental Impact of an Electric Motor and Drive : Life Cycle Assessment and a study of a Circular Business Model

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Industriell miljöteknik

    Author : Emma Westberg; [2020]
    Keywords : Environmental impact; LCA; Circular Economy; Circular business model; motor; drive; Life cycle assessment; Climate impact; Simapro; Life cycle; Machines; Use phase; Efficiency; Recycling; Refurbish; hotspots;

    Abstract : Electric motors are one of the biggest consumers of electricity in the world with a consumption of almost 45 % and it is predicted to increase. Since electric motors play an important role today and in the future, it is important that businesses take their responsibility to make them as sustainable as they can possibly be. READ MORE

  2. 22. Lyman Continuum Radiation from Intermediate-Mass Black Holes : An Estimation of the Contribution of LyC Radiation from IMBHs in z~3 Galaxies

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Author : Marika Ljungberg; [2020]
    Keywords : intermediate-mass black holes; cosmic reionization; high-redshift galaxies;

    Abstract : This thesis concerns the cosmic reionization of the intergalactic medium in the high redshift universe and, in particular, is a first approach to examine what role intermediate mass black holes (IMBHs) play in this cosmic age. Unexpectedly high values of hydrogen ionizing radiation, compared to current models, have been reported from galaxies at redshift ~3 (used as stand-ins for galaxies at the age of reionization), and thus these models need revision, potentially by adding effects of IMBH content in the galaxies. 3. 23. A Camera System for the KTH MIST Satellite

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Volkan Coskun; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The KTH MIST satellite will include a Camera System that should capture pictures of Earth from Space. Due to low Bandwidth, the satellite can traverse several lapses around the Earth until the picture is transmitted down to Earth. The picture is processed and the raw pixels stored in an on-board DRAM. READ MORE

  4. 24. Regional MRI T1 mapping analysis of tobacco smoke exposed mouse lungs

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Gustav Söderström; [2019]
    Keywords : MRI; Magnetic Resonance Imaging; Lungs; COPD; Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease; T1 mapping; Tobacco smoke; Emphysema; Chronic Bronchitis;

    Abstract : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is the fourth largest cause of death worldwide and the prevalence is predicted to increase even further to make it the third largest cause of death by 2020. The main cause of the disease is exposure to tobacco smoke. READ MORE

  5. 25. Design and Evaluation of a 3D Printed Ionization Chamber

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Caroline Boström; Olivia Messler; [2019]
    Keywords : 3D printing; Ionization chamber; Gas-filled detectors;

    Abstract : Ionizing radiation is often used within medicine for diagnosis and treatments. Because ionizingradiation can be harmful to the body, it is important to know how it affects the tissue. Dosimetryis the study of how ionizing radiation deposits energy in a material. READ MORE
