  1. 1. Improving the guidance, navigation and control design of the KNATTE platform

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Lars Lundström; [2023]
    Keywords : Multisensor Data Fusion; Nonlinear Kalman Filter; Neural Network;

    Abstract : For complex satellite missions that rely on agile and high-precision manoeuvres, the low-friction aspect of the space environment is a critical component in understanding the attitude control dynamics of the spacecraft. The Kinesthetic Node and Autonomous Table-Top Emulator (KNATTE) is a three-degree-of-freedom frictionless vehicle that serves as the foundation of a multipurpose platform for real-time spacecraft hardware-in-the-loop experiments, and allows emulation of these conditions in two dimensions with the purpose of validating various guidance, navigation, and control algorithms. 2. 2. Validation of the attitude control of KNATTE with flexible appendages

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Christoffer Johansson; [2022]
    Keywords : KNATTE; flexible appendages; control; SMC; LQG; PWM; PWPF;

    Abstract : The effect of flexible panels on a spacecraft during attitude movement may induce problems if not correctly accounted for in the control system for the spacecraft. The aim of this thesis is to find and evaluate, control algorithms that could be suitable for the Kinesthetic Node and Autonomous Table-Top Emulator (KNATTE) with two flexible mock-up solar panels during an attitude movement of 20 degrees. 3. 3. Modelling and testing of a solar panel structure for KNATTE (Kinesthetic Node and Autonomous Table-Top Emulator)

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Elena Fernández Bravo; [2021]
    Keywords : Frictionless platform; Linear Quadratic Gaussian; Flexible appendages; Finite Element Method;

    Abstract : One of the challenges that satellites face is the interaction between control movement and vibration of flexible appendages such as solar arrays and antennas that can negatively affect the performance of the spacecraft. The aim of this thesis is to develop a numerical model of a solar panel structure for KNATTE, a frictionless platform developed by the Onboard Space Systems group at Luleå University of Technology, and develop a control law that reduces the flexible vibration of the solar arrays when attitude control manoeuvres are performed.
