  1. 1. Advanced Characterization of Exoplanet Host Stars

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Observationell astrofysik

    Author : Khaled Al Moulla; [2020]
    Keywords : stars: exoplanet hosts - fundamental parameters - spectroscopy: HARPS - SME; stjärnor: exoplanetvärdar - fundamentala parametrar - spektroskopi: HARPS - SME;

    Abstract : The spectroscopic determination of stellar properties is important for subsequent studies of exoplanet atmospheres. In this thesis, HARPS data for 6 exoplanet-hosting, late-type stars is processed to achieve an average signal-to-noise ratio of ~105. READ MORE

  2. 2. The solar Mg abundance from strong spectral lines in the infrared

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Teoretisk astrofysik

    Author : Khaled Al Moulla; [2019]
    Keywords : Sun: Mg abundance – line broadening: ABO theory – VALD – SME;

    Abstract : This project aims to determine the solar Mg abundance with two infrared spectral lines: MgI λ10811 and λ10965. Downloaded line data from VALD are updated with modern values for the oscillator strengths and van der Waals damping parameters, the latter obtained through ABO theory. READ MORE

  3. 3. Turbulence at MHD and sub-ion scales in the magnetosheath of Saturn : a comparative study between quasi-perpendicular and quasi-parallel bow shocks using in-situ Cassini data

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi; Uppsala universitet/Institutet för rymdfysik, Uppsalaavdelningen

    Author : Khaled Al Moulla; [2018]
    Keywords : Saturn; magnetosheath; bow shock; turbulence; Cassini; Saturnus; magnetoskikt; bogchock; turbulens; Cassini;

    Abstract : The purpose of this project is to investigate the spectral properties of turbulence in the magnetosheath of Saturn, using in-situ magnetic field measurements from the Cassini spacecraft. According to models of incompressible, turbulent fluids, the energy spectrum in the inertial range scales as the frequency to the power of -5/3, which has been observed in the near-Earth Solar wind but not in the Terrestrial magnetosheath unless close to the magnetopause.
