  1. 1. Forward-Backward Multiplicity Correlations for Proton-Proton Collisions with ALICE at LHC-CERN

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikelfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : August Koppers; [2022]
    Keywords : ALICE; Particle physics; CERN; LHC; QCD; pp collisions; Lund string model; Two particle correlation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the study of two-particle pseudorapidity correlations in pp-collisions at √s = 13 TeV using the ALICE detector at LHC, CERN. The correlation function was calculated as a function of multiplicity and was repeated for several multiplicity classes and different charge combinations in the forward-backward and central regions of the detector, respectively. 2. 2. Spin correlations in top quark pair production at the Large Hadron Collider

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik

    Author : Simon Ahlstedt; [2022]
    Keywords : Top quarks; Top quark pair production; LHC; Spin correlations; [email protected]; Dilepton decay channel; Leading order; Interference effects; Event generation.; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this work we investigate the spin correlation effect of the interference between signal and irreducible background events present in top quark pair production at the LHC at LO in the dilepton channel. To simulate the high energy proton-proton collisions of the LHC, [email protected] framework is used as an event generator. READ MORE

  3. 3. Complementarity of high energy and high intensity experiments for dark photon benchmarks

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikelfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Joshua Greaves; [2022]
    Keywords : Dark matter; LDMX; Dark photon; Complementarity; Snowmass; Relic density; Thermal relic; Relic abundance; Cross section; Constraints; Limits; Minimal models; Energy frontier; Intensity frontier; Madgraph; Madanalysis; Vector mediated; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Physical phenomena that are unexplained by the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, are the subject of the area of research known as physics Beyond the Standard Model (BSM). BSM physics contains many Dark Matter (DM) theories which have emerged; from particles such as axions, neutrinos, and Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs), to primordial black holes and others. 4. 4. Optimising the present and designing the future: a novel SPS injection system

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/FREIA

    Author : Elias Waagaard; [2022]
    Keywords : Numerical optimisation; injection; Super Proton Synchrotron; neural networks;

    Abstract : The Super Proton Synchrotron (SPS) injection system plays a fundamental role to preserve the quality of injected high-brightness beams for the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) physics program and to maintain the maximum storable intensity. The present system is the result of years of upgrades and patches of a system not conceived for such intensities and beam qualities. READ MORE

  5. 5. Study of the doubly charged Higgs boson single production using lepton parton distribution functions with the ATLAS detector

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikelfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Daniel Magdalinski; [2022]
    Keywords : doubly charged Higgs boson; ATLAS; lepton parton distribution function; same-sign; dilepton; beyond standard model; LHC; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Searches for the doubly charged Higgs(H±±) aim to find evidence for models that could explain the origin of neutrino masses. Earlier searches at the LHC have used different production processes for the H±±, with the recent development of lepton parton distribution functions new leptonic production processes are able to be studied.
