  1. 1. A Comparative Analysis of Decision Tree Models in Identifying Landslide Susceptibility and Type Classification

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Levi Jan Zuiverloon; [2023]
    Keywords : Landslides; landslide susceptibility mapping; Random Forest; Extreme Gradient Boosting; machine learning models; multiclass classification; binary classification; risk assessment; mitigation strategies; Italy; Aosta Valley; infrastructure vulnerability; supervised learning algorithms; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Landslides pose a significant risk to human life and infrastructure, especially in Italy, which has a high frequency of landslide occurrences. To mitigate these hazards, Landslide Susceptibility Mapping (LSM) is crucial for identifying risk areas and developing appropriate mitigation strategies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Probing Strangeness Production in Proton-Proton Collisions with Three-Particle Correlations

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Melinda Petricean; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : Strangeness production in small systems such as proton-proton collisions is here investigated through the use of three-particle correlations in the momentum-space coordinates η and ϕ. This method is used in order to investigate possible correlation between conservation of both strangeness and baryon number, such that the particles chosen are Λ¯pK+ and the respective charge conjugates, where Λ is a strange baryon, p¯ balances: the Balance Function and the comparative restriction of relative positions for pairs of particles within given triplets. 3. 3. In-ear monitoring for vocalists in live sound : User defined issues, proposed solutions, monitoring's impact on musical performance and comparisons to Loudspeaker monitors

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för ekonomi, teknik, konst och samhälle

    Author : Hannes Norrgård; [2023]
    Keywords : audio engineering; in-ear; in-ear monitoring; in-ear monitors; monitoring; IEM; monitor engineer; vocalist; singer; wedge; loudspeaker monitors; LSM; ljudteknik; monitorhögtalare; monitortekniker; sångare;

    Abstract : Monitoring is hugely important for musicians in any type of live situation for them to provide a good musical performance, and In-ear Monitoring (IEM) is increasingly popular among both musicians and audio engineers. Despite this, there has been little research on the topic and musicians and audio engineers would benefit from knowing more about the system, to utilize it in the best way possible. READ MORE

  4. 4. LEAST -SQUARE MONTE CARLO BASED OPTION PRICING OF EUROPEAN AND BERMUDAN STOCK INDEX OPTIONS

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Oscar Brink Bolin; Joel Ahnvik; [2022]
    Keywords : Option; Monte Carlo *; Least-square *; Black-Scholes; Merton; Heston; Bates; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Abstract : On the financial markets, there are a large number of financial instruments. Two of these instruments is the European and Bermudan option, where the Bermudan option can be seen as a discrete version of the American option. Meaning, if one can price the Bermudan option one can also estimate the price of an American option. READ MORE

  5. 5. Local and remote team cohesion effect on performance in the software industry

    University essay from

    Author : Alexandre Martins; Karl-Johan Grahn; [2021]
    Keywords : software development; team cohesion; team performance; LSM; DEA; remote; local;

    Abstract : Background: The COVID-19 pandemic forced many companies to transition to remote work, which has created a social distance among team members that may affect team performance. Although previous studies have examined the relationship of team cohesion and team performance, few have investigated the question whether remote work affects team performance. READ MORE
