    Abstract : Is it possible to increase traffic flows and decrease stand stills in rush hour traffic by tweaking existing traffic light signals? A vehicle’s engine running on idle is not useful in physical terms and emits unnecessary exhausts. By investigating and observing signal phase times on site in Hangzhou, China, an effort was made to find out if it was possible to get better flow and thus lower emissions by changing the traffic signal programs. 2. 2. Routing of autonomous vehicles with lane change possibilities

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Author : Vishnu Pradheep Raveendran; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : An autonomous vehicle has to understand the surrounding dynamic environment to make the driving decisions such as lane change by giving way to the dynamic obstacles. Motion planning is a challenging problem for an autonomous vehicle while changing a lane in the complex dynamic environment, as the optimal solution for routing must be computed in real time. 3. 3. Platoon Coordination under Signal Temporal Logic Specifications

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Akash Singh; [2020]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Autonomous Driving has been hailed as one of the biggest game-changers for solving a lots of problems of the future, such as traffic congestion, efficiency of transportation, carbon emissions, road safety etc. Vehicle platooning has been a well studied idea in this field for efficient highway driving, which has been around since a few decades now. 4. 4. Model Predictive Control for Autonomous Driving of Over-Actuated Research Vehicle

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektro- och systemteknik (EES)

    Author : Gonçalo Collares Pereira; [2016]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Ända sedan personfordon blev tillgängliga för allmänheten, har trafikolyckor varit vanliga. För att motverka den här trenden talas det mer och mer om kolonnkörning och sammarbete mellan kommunicerande fordon, vilket kan komma att öka kapaciteten på vägarna samt minska utsläpp av växthusgaser. 5. 5. Soot particles from shipping: Analysing emission factors

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildning

    Author : Nicklas Mauritzson; [2015]
    Keywords : Ship emission; emission factor; soot; black carbon; measurement; SECA; Gothenburg; Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : Emissions of air pollutants from shipping in Europe result in about 50 000 premature deaths every year. Soot particles, also called black carbon, are particularly hazardous to human health when inhaled. The adverse health effects are especially a danger in coastal areas, but the particles can travel further away with the wind. READ MORE
