  1. 1. Design of a 2-D Lattice Flower Constellation for Earth observation applying the twin satellite concept

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Julia Martín-Fuertes Brañas; [2023]
    Keywords : 2D Lattice Flower Constellation design; number of satellites; number of planes; revisit time; coverage; optimized constellation; target list; twin satellite concept; FreeFlyer; 2D Lattice Flower Constellation design; antal satelliter; antal plan; återbesökstid; täckning; optimerad konstellation; mållista; tvilling-satellit-koncept; FreeFlyer;

    Abstract : Events such as forest fires or floods are a danger to our Earth’s environment and the people living in it. The sooner they can be detected, the less damage they can cause. An idea arises: use satellites to monitor the Earth and relay information to prevention and rescue organizations in a very short time, regardless of accessibility from ground. READ MORE

  2. 2. Z2-Gauge Theory with Matter : Dispersive behaviour of a dimer in a 1+1-dimensional lattice

    University essay from Karlstads universitet/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap och fysik (from 2013)

    Author : Filip Ekblom; [2023]
    Keywords : Spin chain; Ising model; Dimer; Lattice; Lattice gauge theory;

    Abstract : The intention with this thesis is to investigate a dimer in a spin chain. Inorder to do that, a model from Z2-gauge theory is taken as the theoretical motivation to construct a discrete lattice with Ising spin properties. A dimer is then allowed to exist indirectly in the empty space between sites. READ MORE

  3. 3. The effect of disorder on the axial anomaly in a lattice model in 1 + 1 dimensions

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Agnes Wattrang; [2023]
    Keywords : Axial anomaly; tight-binding model; semiclassical physics; correlated disorder.; Axial kiral anomali; tätbindningsmodell; semiklassisk fysik; korrelerad oordning;

    Abstract : This work investigates the effect of a disorder potential, that represents impurities/dislocations in the lattice, on the time-dependent signature of the axial anomaly in a one-band tight-binding model in one spatial dimension. The tight-binding model is solved numerically and the simulation results are compared with a semiclassical expression for the time-dependent axial density, n5(t), due to Nielsen and Ninomiya [1]. 4. 4. Electron-skyrmion systems, in and out of equilibrium, and isolated or contacted to reservoirs

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Matematisk fysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Emil Adam Jonatan Östberg; [2023]
    Keywords : skyrmion; skyrmions; NEGF; freen s function; quantum transport; non-equlibrium; topology; topological charge; skyrmionics; current induced; open system; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : A Kondo lattice skyrmion model in contact with a macroscopic environment is simulated to explore skyrmion dynamics, which is an extension of previous work. The system is simulated using non-equilibrium Green's functions within the generalized Kadanoff-Baym ansatz and the wide band limit. READ MORE

  5. 5. Numerical Estimation of Critical Exponents in the 3D XY Model

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Christoffer Beiming; [2023]
    Keywords : Theoretical physics; Condensed matter theory; Phase transitions; XY model; Critical exponents; Computational physics; Monte Carlo simulations; Teoretisk fysik; Kondenserade materiens teori; Fasövergångar; XY-modellen; Kritiska exponenter; Beräkningsfysik; Monte Carlo simulering;

    Abstract : The experimentally obtained value of the critical exponent ν is presently in significant disagreement with current theoretical predictions for the λ-universality class. We suggest two novel approaches of determining the exponents ν and η by utilizing the effects of finite size scaling. READ MORE
