  1. 11. On-board processing with AI for more autonomous and capable satellite systems

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för system- och rymdteknik

    Author : Tamina Lund; [2022]
    Keywords : Satellite telemetry forecasting; battery degradation prediction; LSTM; artificial intelligence; on-board processing;

    Abstract : While the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has faced a sharp up-rise in popularity in ground-based industries, such as for autonomous navigation in the automotive industry and predictive maintenance in manufacturing processes, it is yet only rarely used in space industry. Hence, this thesis aims to investigate the possibilities of using AI for processing on-board Earth-orbiting satellites while in orbit. READ MORE

  2. 12. Analysis of factory test data of on-load tap-changers for power transformers

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för systemteknik

    Author : Oscar Stenhammar; [2021]
    Keywords : on-load tap-changer; OLTC; power transformer;

    Abstract : On-load tap-changers (OLTC) are devices in the power grid that keeps the voltage level constant for consumers, regardless of the power demand. Hitachi ABB Power Grids, producer of the OLTC family named VUC, guarantees 30 years of lifetime. Such a pledge requires high standard devices. READ MORE

  3. 13. Lifetime prediction of a polymeric propellant binder using the Arrhenius approach

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Author : Johannes Bohlin; [2021]
    Keywords : Polymer; Thermal-oxidative degradation; Lifetime prediction; Propellant; Arrhenius; Aging experiments; Diffusion-limited oxidation;

    Abstract : The thermal-oxidative degradation of a crosslinked hydroxy-terminated polybutadiene (HTPB)/cycloaliphatic diisocyanate (H12MDI) based polymer, which is commonly used as a polymeric binder in propellants, is investigated at temperatures from 95°C to 125°C with the aim of estimating the lifetime of the material in storage conditions (20°C) using the Arrhenius approach. Furthermore, the effect of antioxidants and to a lesser extent plasticizer on the degradation process was also studied. READ MORE

  4. 14. Model on degradation of PEM fuel cells in marine applications

    University essay from KTH/Kemiteknik

    Author : Erik Östling; [2021]
    Keywords : Proton exchange membrane fuel cell PEMFC ; marine applications; durability; lifetime prediction; empirical model; PEM bränsleceller; marina tillämpningar; hållbarhet; livslängdsberäkning; empirisk modell;

    Abstract : Sjöfarten står för 3 % av världens totala växthusgaser och är idag högst beroende av fossila bränslen. Ett alternativ för att gå över till en fossilfri flotta är användning av bränsleceller och vätgas som drivmedel. READ MORE

  5. 15. Early-Stage Prediction of Lithium-Ion Battery Cycle Life Using Gaussian Process Regression

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Love Wikland; [2020]
    Keywords : Statistical learning; prediction; regression; Gaussian processes; lithium-ion battery; battery health; battery lifetime; Statistisk inlärning; prediction; regression; Gaussiska processer; litiumjonbatteri; batterihälsa; batterilivstid;

    Abstract : Data-driven prediction of battery health has gained increased attention over the past couple of years, in both academia and industry. Accurate early-stage predictions of battery performance would create new opportunities regarding production and use. READ MORE
