  1. 1. DEFORMABLE IMAGE REGISTRATION OF SPINE MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGES WITH ELASTIX FOR DETAILED CHARACTERIZATION OF DISC LOADING BEHAVIORS

    University essay from

    Author : Zainab Sirat; [2021-05-10]
    Keywords : Medical physics; Registration; MRI; Spine;

    Abstract : Purpose: This work aimed to develop an optimized strategy for registration of spine magnetic resonance (MR) images acquired with and without spinal loading, as well as evaluate the quality of the registration strategy with commonly used quality assessment methods. Method: Previously collected MR images of the lumbar spine of 37 individuals were re analyzed. READ MORE

  2. 2. The value of cardiac MRI texture analysis in patients with clinically suspected myocarditis

    University essay from

    Author : Evin Ina Papalini; [2021-05-10]
    Keywords : Medical physics; Myocarditis; Cardiac magnetic resonance; Texture analysis;

    Abstract : Purpose: The aim of this proof-of-concept study was to assess the diagnostic value of texture analysis (TA) based on conventional balanced steady-state-free precession (bSSFP), late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and T2-weighted cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) in patients with clinically suspected myocarditis.Method: A retrospective cohort study was performed based on 30 patients whounderwent a comprehensive CMRI due to clinically suspected myocarditisbetween 2013 and 2018 at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital: 10 patients with clinical signs and positive myocardial biomarkers (Troponin T, indicating myocardial injury) as well as positive CMRI findings according to Lake Louise Criteria (LLC; group 1), 10 patients with clinical signs and positive myocardial biomarkers but negative CMRI findings according to LLC (group 2), and 10 patients with clinical signs but both negative myocardial biomarkers as well as CMRI findings according to LLC (control group). 3. 3. Deep Learning with Importance Sampling for Brain Tumor MR Segmentation

    University essay from KTH/Optimeringslära och systemteori

    Author : Hanna Westermark; [2021]
    Keywords : Deep learning; importance sampling; segmentation; convolutional neural networks; MRI; brain tumour; Djupinlärning; importance sampling; segmentering; faltningsnätverk; MRI; hjärntumör;

    Abstract : Segmentation of magnetic resonance images is an important part of planning radiotherapy treat-ments for patients with brain tumours but due to the number of images contained within a scan and the level of detail required, manual segmentation is a time consuming task. Convolutional neural networks have been proposed as tools for automated segmentation and shown promising results. READ MORE

    Abstract : Deep convolutional neural networks (CNN’s) have achieved state-of-the-art accuraciesfor multi-class segmentation in biomedical image science. In this thesis, A 3D U-Net isused to segment 4D flow Magnetic Resonance Images that include the heart and its largevessels. READ MORE

  5. 5. Measuring T1 using MP2RAGE in Human Brain at 7T – Effect of B1+ and Inversion Pulse Efficiency

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Sjukhusfysikerutbildningen

    Author : Mustafa Kadhim; [2021]
    Keywords : Medicine and Health Sciences;

    Abstract : Introduction: The MP2RAGE technique has become popular for structural MRI at ultra-high fields. The core idea behind MP2RAGE is to reduce the influence of flip angle inhomogeneity (B +), proton density and T2* by calculating the regularized signed ratio of two complex MP-RAGE images acquired at different inversion times (TI) within the cycle.
