  1. 21. Search for High-Mass Dijet Resonances Decaying into Top Quark Pairs using Machine Learning Techniques in the ATLAS Experiment

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Stefio Yosse Andrean; [2018]
    Keywords : ATLAS; LHC; jet; dijet; resonance; top; machine learning; BDT; DNN; topocluster; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis presents an application of machine learning techniques in a search for a high-mass resonance particle decaying into top quark pairs in high energy dijet events using the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Top tagging is applied to the dijet events to select the events with top signature and suppress the background, increasing the sensitivity of the search. READ MORE

  2. 22. Exploring Spaces of Not Knowing : an Artist View

    University essay from Konstfack/IBIS - Institutionen för bild- och slöjdpedagogik

    Author : Nike Edelholm; [2018]

    Abstract : The understanding, I draw from this inquiry has come through a muddy, and complex entangledprocess. I have been re-turning like a "Baradian" earthworm, to experiences of being, in spacesof not-knowing. Digesting the mud, moving it, once more, like worms do, through the body. READ MORE

  3. 23. Terrain Classification to find Drivable Surfaces using Deep Neural Networks : Semantic segmentation for unstructured roads combined with the use of Gabor filters to determine drivable regions trained on a small dataset

    University essay from KTH/Robotik, perception och lärande, RPL

    Author : Agneev Guin; [2018]
    Keywords : Semantic segmentation; Deep learning; Gabor filters; Drivable surfaces;

    Abstract : Autonomous vehicles face various challenges under difficult terrain conditions such as marginally rural or back-country roads, due to the lack of lane information, road signs or traffic signals. In this thesis, we investigate a novel approach of using Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) to classify off-road surfaces into the types of terrains with the aim of supporting autonomous navigation in unstructured environments. 4. 24. The Establishment of Macrobenthic Faunal Communities in Planted Mangroves of Increasing Age

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära

    Author : Simon Jacobsen Ellerstrand; [2017]
    Keywords : Benthos; Shannon-diversity; forestation; biodiversity; ecosystem engineers; development issues; Biology and Life Sciences;

    Abstract : The mangrove ecosystem is a tropical coastal community inhabited by organisms adapted to the stressful environment of the tidal zone. Mangrove ecosystems has in recent years been noted for the important ecosystem services they offer. READ MORE

  5. 25. Gödselbadande hos gris – ett djurvälfärdsproblem? : varför gödselbadar grisar och vilka konsekvenser får det för djurvälfärden och djurskyddslagstiftning?

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Animal Environment and Health

    Author : Astrid Söderquist; [2017]
    Keywords : gris; gyttjebad; djurvälfärd;

    Abstract : Despite the pig’s natural tendency to keep clear of its feces and defecate away from its nesting site, pigs in modern meat production sometimes defecate and urinate in their resting area and lay in their own feces. The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to investigate if this behaviour poses a threat to animal welfare, how it relates to animal welfare legislation, why it occur and to what frequency. READ MORE
