  1. 1. Transverse Momentum Spectra in pp collisions (\sqrt{s}\) = 7 TeV and \(\sqrt{s}\) = 13 TeV in ALICE

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Andreas Stokkeland; [2023]
    Keywords : Multiplicity; Multiplicity classes; Soft interactions; Quark Gluon Plasma; QGP; transverse momentum; p_T; Chi-squared; fits; fit functions; Levy; Lévy; Exponential; BGBW; Boltzmann-Gibbs blast-wave; Fermi-Dirac; Bose-Einstein; Boltzmann; pion; kaon; proton; transverse momentum spectra; p_T spectra; surface velocity; Minimum Bias; MB; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this project particle production as a function of transverse momentum (\(p_{\rm T}\)) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy (\(\sqrt{s}\)) of 7 TeV and 13 TeV has been studied. The transverse momentum is interesting to study since it reflects momentum created in the collision (before the collision, all momentum is in the beam - going in a longitudinal direction) and therefore gives information on the collision dynamics. 2. 2. Forward-Backward Multiplicity Correlations for Proton-Proton Collisions with ALICE at LHC-CERN

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : August Koppers; [2022]
    Keywords : ALICE; Particle physics; CERN; LHC; QCD; pp collisions; Lund string model; Two particle correlation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the study of two-particle pseudorapidity correlations in pp-collisions at √s = 13 TeV using the ALICE detector at LHC, CERN. The correlation function was calculated as a function of multiplicity and was repeated for several multiplicity classes and different charge combinations in the forward-backward and central regions of the detector, respectively. 3. 3. Strange Hadron Production as a Function of Multiplicity and Transverse Spherocity in proton-proton Collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$~TeV

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Maria Mårtenson; [2018]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis presents the study of the K$^{0}_{s}$, $\Lambda$, and $\bar{\Lambda}$ production in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$~TeV recorded by the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The K$^{0}_{s}$, $\Lambda$, and $\bar{\Lambda}$ particles are reconstructed in the transverse momentum ($p_{\mathrm{T}}$) range of $1.0-12. READ MORE

  4. 4. Separation of Hard and Soft Production in High Multiplicity pp Collisions using Transverse Spherocity

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Anna Önnerstad; [2017]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : A big question at LHC is if the Quark-Gluon Plasma is produced in small systems such as pp and p-Pb collisions. A general problem in small systems is that possible medium effects are small and can be obscured by hard collisions such as jet production. READ MORE
