  1. 1. Acquired and lost structure-functions of non-enveloped and enveloped viruses

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Diogo Filipe; [2022]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Viruses are biological entities that constantly affect the world around us and in many cases they can harm the health of humans and negatively impact food production, in agriculture andfisheries. The project concept is that, through the structural studies of viruses that infectsimple hosts, it is possible to point out structural features that are unique and conserved inviruses, that infect human, other animals, and crops, in the same phylogenetic lineage. Abstract : Outlier detection in high-dimensional data is a complex task, useful in many fields. One major application is in healthcare, where the high-dimensional healthcare registers can be used to detect patterns related to the medical behaviour and state of the population. READ MORE

  3. 3. The value of cardiac MRI texture analysis in patients with clinically suspected myocarditis

    University essay from

    Author : Evin Ina Papalini; [2021-05-10]
    Keywords : Medical physics; Myocarditis; Cardiac magnetic resonance; Texture analysis;

    Abstract : Purpose: The aim of this proof-of-concept study was to assess the diagnostic value of texture analysis (TA) based on conventional balanced steady-state-free precession (bSSFP), late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and T2-weighted cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) in patients with clinically suspected myocarditis. Method: A retrospective cohort study was performed based on 30 patients who underwent a comprehensive CMRI due to clinically suspected myocarditis between 2013 and 2018 at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital: 10 patients with clinical signs and positive myocardial biomarkers (Troponin T, indicating myocardial injury) as well as positive CMRI findings according to Lake Louise Criteria (LLC; group 1), 10 patients with clinical signs and positive myocardial biomarkers but negative CMRI findings according to LLC (group 2), and 10 patients with clinical signs but both negative myocardial biomarkers as well as CMRI findings according to LLC (control group).
