  1. 1. The potential nitrous oxide emissions in a permanent grassland chronosequence

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

    Author : Sandra Lillsjö Kronblad; [2023]
    Keywords : nitrous oxide emission; permanent grasslands; denitrification; nitrous; reen house gas; agriculture;

    Abstract : As a part of a larger project (Belowground biodiversity of grasslands – conservation needs and potential to promote sustainable agriculture), this study aims to investigate potential nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and microbial gene abundances needed for the production (nirS and nirK) and reduction (nosZI and nosZII) of nitrous oxide in soil of permanent grasslands of various age. Thegrasslands have at different times been converted to permanent grasslands and are of interest because of the possibility to shed more light about the passage of time’s affects on the soil microbialcommunities and their activity. 2. 2. Development and Optimization of Near-infrared spectroscopy

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Akademin för textil, teknik och ekonomi

    Author : Amanda Hahlin; [2023]
    Keywords : Near-infrared spectroscopy; NIRS; Textile sorting; Principal component analysis; PCA; Post-consumer end-of-life textiles;

    Abstract : With the growing demand for sustainable options, the existing sorting capacities are limiting the potential for fiber-to-fiber recycling. With the help of near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), automated sorting of textiles with high accuracy is possible due to the easy access for polymer identification. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards a Reliable and Valid Analysis of VO2m Off-Kinetics

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Hrafnkell Þráinsson; [2022]
    Keywords : Sports Technology; Near-infrared spectroscopy; Muscle oxidative capacity; Occlusion; Software; Automation; Idrottsteknologi; Near-infrared spectroscopy; Muskulaturens oxidativa förmåga; Ocklusion; Programvara; Automatisering;

    Abstract : Non-invasive methods to evaluate skeletal muscle oxidative capacity have beenemerging as a viable substitute for invasive methods in recent years. One ofthose methods utilises near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) to calculate V O2mrecovery off-kinetics following an exercise. READ MORE

  4. 4. Structural and Functional Brain Changes due to Pregnancy and Early Postpartum Period: A Systematic Review

    University essay from Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Author : Sanne Lövgren; [2022]
    Keywords : pregnancy; brain; structural; functional;

    Abstract : A big part of the female population experience pregnancy and giving birth. Evidence from animal studies indicates numerous adaptations in the brain throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. The effects on the human brain are not as well studied, which is problematic due to the complexity of comparing species. READ MORE

  5. 5. Prediction of flue gas properties using artificial intelligence : Application of supervised machine learning by utilization of Near-Infrared Spectroscopy on solid biofuels

    University essay from Mälardalens universitet/Akademin för ekonomi, samhälle och teknik

    Author : Bashe Abdirahman Hussein; Emran Samimi; [2022]
    Keywords : Artificial Intelligence; Machine learning; Near-Infrared spectroscopy; Solid biofuels; Fuel element; Flue gas composition; CCS;

    Abstract : This degree project studies implementation and comparison of different AI models to predict (1) solid biofuel elements including carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, and oxygen as well as moisture content, ash content, and higher heating value (HHV) of the fuel and (2) flue gas compositions such as concentration of carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen, nitrogen oxides, and water content using near-infrared spectroscopy and chemometric approaches. The study executes these predictions by simulating the operation of a combined heat and power plant (CHP) that is equipped with carbon capture and storage (CCS). READ MORE
