  1. 1. Favourable Opportunities in Sports Betting - A Statistical Approach to Football Goals in the Premier League

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Fredrik Lindau; Gustaf Carle; [2022]
    Keywords : statistics; Poisson distribution; Negative Binomial distribution; Bayesian regression; football; Premier League; sports betting; market efficiency; probability theory; estimations; statistik; Poisson fördelning; Negativ Binomial fördelning; Bayesiansk regression; fotboll; Premier League; betting; marknadseffektivitet; sannolikhetsteori; skattningar;

    Abstract : The premise of this report is to delve into sports betting and whether favourable opportunities can be found, more specifically focusing on over and under odds for number of goals scored in football games of the Premier League. Using historical data from football matches several models are developed, the characteristics of goals warranting the use of probability based Poisson and Negative Binomial models, as well as Bayesian Poisson regression for goal predictions. Abstract : Tumour Mutational Burden is a promising biomarker to predict response to immunotherapy. In this thesis, statistical methods of supervised learning were used to predict TMB: GLM, Decision Trees and SVM. READ MORE

  3. 3. The Impact of Weather on Residential Fires in Sweden: A Regression Analysis

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Viktor Reineck; Folke Ulfsparre; [2019]
    Keywords : Regression; Poisson; Negative binomial; Generalized linear models; Organizational theory; Regression; Poisson; Negativ binomial; Generaliserade linjära modeller; Organisationsteori;

    Abstract : The purpose of this report is to investigate possible relationships between the number of residential fires in Sweden and various weather parameters. The study is conducted based on a hypothesis as stated by the MSB, the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency, that behavioral factors related to weather can have an influence on the number of residential fires. 4. 4. Purchase behaviour analysis in the retail industry using Generalized Linear Models

    University essay from KTH/Matematisk statistik

    Author : Sofia Karlsson; [2018]
    Keywords : Generalized linear models; Algorithm; Historical transaction; Retail; Fashion; Recommendation engine;

    Abstract : This master thesis uses applied mathematicalstatistics to analyse purchase behaviour based on customer data of the Swedishbrand Indiska. The aim of the study is to build a model that can helppredicting the sales quantities of different product classes and identify whichfactors are the most significant in the different models and furthermore, tocreate an algorithm that can provide suggested product combinations in thepurchasing process.
