    Abstract : In this thesis, a method for producing few-cycle short wavelength infrared pulses is presented. The pulses are created by down converting the 800 nm output of a Ti:Sapphire laser in an optical parametric amplifier to 1300 nm, and spectrally broadened in a hollow core fiber in order to obtain a short transform limited pulse duration.     Abstract : High-Order Harmonic generation (HHG) is an alternative and much more compact way of generating x-ray radiation compared to producing it in a synchrotron. In this report a two color inline interferometer is designed to superimpose electrical fields generated by a frequency doubling crystal, for the purpose of reshaping the pulse train generated in the HHG process.
