  1. 1. An Analysis of Financial Stress in the Chinese Economy: A TVAR Approach

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Nationalekonomiska institutionen

    Author : Oskar Landgren; Jack Crooks; [2018]
    Keywords : Financial Stress; TVAR; Nonlinearities; China; Business and Economics;

    Abstract : In this paper, we look to develop understanding of the nature and potential impact of financial stress and fiscal shocks in the Chinese economy, examining how such stress spreads through the economy and how monetary policy can exaggerate or mitigate the resultant effects. In order to do so, we construct a TVAR model on Chinese quarterly data. READ MORE

  2. 2. Using machine learning to identify the occurrence of changing air masses

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskaper

    Author : Anund Bergfors; [2018]
    Keywords : machine learning; meteorology; data science; visualization; time series; pattern recognition; logistic regression; data mining; statistics; ai; physics; signal processing; control theory; automatic control; systems theory; information technology; maskininlärning; meteorologi; data science; visualisering; tidsserie; mönsterigenkänning; logistisk regression; datautvinning; statistik; ai; fysik; signalbehandling; reglerteknik; systemteknik; informationsteknologi;

    Abstract : In the forecast data post-processing at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) a regular Kalman filter is used to debias the two meter air temperature forecast of the physical models by controlling towards air temperature observations. The Kalman filter however diverges when encountering greater nonlinearities in shifting weather patterns, and can only be manually reset when a new air mass has stabilized itself within its operating region. 3. 3. Nonlinearities in the Transmission Between Financial Stress, Monetary Policy and the Business Cycle - a Threshold VAR Approach

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Nationalekonomiska institutionen

    Author : Olle Warström; [2017]
    Keywords : Financial Stress; Transmission mechanism; nonlinearities; Business and Economics;

    Abstract : This paper investigates nonlinear transmissions between financial stress, monetary policy and the business cycle. Using a threshold VAR model on Swedish quarterly data the presence of nonlinearities in aforementioned transmission is corroborated by the nonlinearity-test suggested by Hansen (1996). READ MORE

  4. 4. Design and Analysis of a Slanted Cable-stayed Building

    University essay from KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad; KTH/Bro- och stålbyggnad

    Author : Matea Bradaric; David Desimons; [2017]
    Keywords : Tubed Mega Frame; high-rise buildings; SAP2000; ETABS; cable-stayed structures; Tubed Mega Frame; höghus; SAP2000; ETABS; snedkabelstrukturer;

    Abstract : The Tubed Mega Frame (TMF) is a structural system for high-rise building developed by Tyréns AB. Compared to conventional structural systems, the TMF is a coreless system that transfers the loads through the perimeter of the building instead and in turn enables ability to support new architectural shapes and forms of buildings. 5. 5. Tyre Library for Vehicle Energy Model

    University essay from Chalmers tekniska högskola/Institutionen för tillämpad mekanik

    Author : Pooja Ramachandra Hegde; Vamshi Krishna Gunda; [2017]
    Keywords : tyre models; Brush model; Soft ground modelling; Bekker-reece model; rolling resistance; terramechanics; traction; tyres;

    Abstract : A growing need to minimize fuel consumption motivates research towards energyloss due to tyre components. Performing tyre tests to determine the nature of theselosses for every scenario may turn out to be expensive. Magic tyre formula is widelyaccepted to give comparable results to real world but the model is not motivatedwith physical principles. READ MORE
