  1. 1. Evaluation of whole-body bone scans performed using a gamma camera with Cadmium Zinc Telluride detector

    University essay from

    Author : Victor Asp; [2022-01-13]
    Keywords : Medical physics; whole-body bone scans; gamma camera; Cadmium Zinc Telluride detector;

    Abstract : The bone scan is a common nuclear medicine imaging procedure that is mainly used for evaluating several oncological patient groups. A radioactive tracer, 99mTc -labelled diphosphonate, is injected intravenously and accumulates in the skeleton. The distribution of the tracer in the body is measured with a gamma camera 3 hours post-injection. READ MORE

  2. 2. Establishment of a deep learning algorithm for dosimetry of radiopharmaceuticals

    University essay from

    Author : Dennis Lipnicevic; [2022-01-13]
    Keywords : Medical physics; automated segmentation; dosimetry; kidney; nuclear medicine dosimetry; deep learning; convolutional neural network;

    Abstract : Purpose: The aim of this study was to introduce a volumetric convolutional neural network for segmentation of the kidneys in SPECT images and to apply it in the dosimetry of radiopharmaceuticals of this organ, in order to decrease segmentation time and to standardize the segmentation of the kidneys. Method: Three networks were trained using two network architectures and a total of 216 retrospectively collected images from patients that underwent imaging procedures at Sahlgrenska University Hospital between 2009 and 2018. 3. 3. Prototyping of an automated cyclic Neutron Activation Analysis setup

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : Cornelius Maurer; [2022]
    Keywords : Nuclear Physics; Neutron activation analysis; cyclic-NAA; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : A prototype Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) setup based on a Deuterium-Tritium (DT) neutron generator is under development at Lund University. It serves as proof-of-principle for NAA based on a Compact Accelerator-driven Neutron Source. READ MORE

  4. 4. Development of a computational method for determining gamma energy escape from calorimeters at CLAB

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Amela Mehic; [2022]
    Keywords : Nuclear physics; Calorimeter; SNF; MCNP; Dose rate; CLAB; Gamma energy; Fuel assembly; Form function; Attenuation coefficient; Gamma spectroscopy;

    Abstract : Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company- SKB has conducted measurement campaigns at the Swedish central interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel- CLAB over the years, extending from year 2003 to 2019 where the gamma energy escape was acquired. At CLAB the spent nuclear fuel assembly is inserted into the calorimeter; device intended to measure temperature increase due to decay heat from the fuel assembly. READ MORE
