  1. 6. Multiscale & Multiphysics Modelling of Thrust Pad (Air) Bearings

    University essay from Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Author : Nipon Roy; [2023]
    Keywords : Finite element modelling; Air bearing; Multiphysics simulations; Air lubrication; surface texture; Topology optimization;

    Abstract : Without lubrication, machines are not imaginable to perform over a long period of time and complete their designated operations. With its omnipresent availability, the air is capable of functioning as a lubricant in long operations very efficiently. Moreover, thrust bearings support axial loads and transmit power at the same time under heavy loads. READ MORE

  2. 7. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 3. 8. A comparison between random testing and adaptive random testing

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för data- och systemvetenskap

    Author : Nicklas Johansson; Ola Aareskjold; [2023]
    Keywords : Adaptive random testing; Random testing; Defect detection efficiency; test case generation time;

    Abstract : Software testing is essential for quality assurance, with automated techniques such as random testing and adaptive random testing being cost-effective solutions compared to others. Adaptive random testing seeks to enhance random testing, and there is a conception that adaptive random testing always should replace random testing. READ MORE

  4. 9. Investigation of soliton equations with integral operators and their dynamics

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Author : Ruben Vikars Hall; Carl Svennerstedt; [2023]
    Keywords : Soliton; Calogero-Moser-Sutherland system; Lax pair; Hilbert transform; Szegö projection; Benjamin-Ono equation; Non-chiral Intermediate long-wave equation; Szegö equation;

    Abstract : We present Lax pairs and functions called Lax functions corresponding to Calogero- Moser-Sutherland (CMS) systems. We present the Benjamin-Ono (BO) equation and a pole ansatz to the BO equation, constructed from a specific type of Lax function called a special Lax function corresponding to Rational and Trigonometric CMS systems. 5. 10. Construction and Evaluation of a Numerical Model for Heat Transfer in a Ladle During Pre-heating : A Finite Volume Approach to the Diffusion Equation using Julia

    University essay from KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Author : Gustaf Bjurstam; [2023]
    Keywords : Finite Volume Method; FVM; Diffusion equation; Ladle; Pre-heating; Baking; Heat equation; Heat transfer; Finita Volymmetoden; FVM; Diffusionsekvationen; Skänk; Förvärmning; Värmeledningsekvationen; Värmeledning;

    Abstract : Heat transfer is key to understanding many processes in engineering. At a steel mill heat transfer is absolutely crucial to understanding most of the processes. One such a process is the pre-heating of a freshly relined ladle. READ MORE
