  1. 11. Scots pine for fika : the role of local moose density in determining browsing damages to pine across commercial forests in Sweden

    University essay from SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Author : Rebecca Partemi; [2022]
    Keywords : moose; Scots pine; browsing damage; forestry; Äbin;

    Abstract : By browsing on young Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), moose (Alces alces) can cause significant damage to commercial forests. The National Forest Agency monitors browsing damage and moose faecal pellet groups annually on pre-defined plots throughout Sweden. READ MORE

  2. 12. Inclusion of blue mussels in the diet of Black Soldier Fly (Hermentia illucens) : the effect on compost process efficiency

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Author : Alma Jennersjö Hedman; [2022]
    Keywords : Black Soldier Fly; Hermetia illucens; larvae composting; process efficiency; circular economy; animal food production;

    Abstract : Abstract The management and handling of organic waste in primarily low-income developing cities, due to high urbanization has become a global problem. The main form of waste handling in these cities are landfilling, due to it being the cheapest and easiest option. READ MORE

  3. 13. Qualification of a Physical Model of Cladding Creep During Dry Storage of Spent Nuclear Fuel

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Robin Andersson; [2022]
    Keywords : Dry Storage; Thermal Creep; Zircaloy-4; Pellet-Cladding Interaction; Torrt Förvar; Termisk Krypning; Zircaloy-4; Kuts-Kapsling Interaktion;

    Abstract : In dry interim storage of spent nuclear fuel, thermal creep is one of the major threats to the fuel cladding integrity due to the constant decay heat generation from the fission products and minor actinides in the fuel, and the increase in fuel rod internal pressure which is present after burnup. Plenty of research has been done on either empty cladding tubes irradiated in a research reactor, or on spent fuel that is defueled prior to the examination. READ MORE

  4. 14. Comparing different methods of measuring particle size for pharmaceutical excipients

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master)

    Author : Jiawen Wang; [2022]
    Keywords : particle size; comparison; Malvern analysis; Qicpic analysis; Pharmaceutical technology; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : In pharmaceutical science, particle size is one of the most fundamental parameters of materials, but different particle-sizing analysis methods lack a uniform standard for measuring irregular particle size, making it difficult to compare the accuracy and applicability of different particle-sizing analysis methods. Experiments on excipients used in pharmaceuticals are carried out in this paper by laser diffraction analysis (Malvern wet and dry), dynamic image analysis (Qicpic), and microscopic methods (Qicpic, SEM, and light microscopy) to determine the applicability and limitations of each method, as well as to clarify their advantages and disadvantages. 5. 15. Power Increase Limits to Prevent Pellet-Cladding Interaction : Calculation of Strain- and Fission Gas Release Margins

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Author : Viktor Nerlander; [2022]
    Keywords : pci; fuel damage; FRAPCON; FRAPTRAN; FPO;

    Abstract : With a growing share of intermittent electrical energy sources in the national grid of Sweden, areview of the safety of using nuclear power for flexible operation is necessary. Today nuclearpower is used as base load power and when examining challenges of flexible power operation,the risk for Pellet-Cladding Interaction (PCI), stands out. READ MORE
