  1. 1. Majorana bound states in Rashba nanowire junctions

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Materialteori

    Author : Lucas Baldo Mesa Casa; [2020]
    Keywords : Topological superconductivity; Rashba nanowires; Majorana Bound States;

    Abstract : Nanowires with Rashba spin-orbit coupling represent a promising platform for the realization of one-dimensional topological superconductivity and Majorana bound states. In this work we investigate Majorana bound states in hybrid normal-superconductor and short superconductor-normal-superconductor junctions based on nanowires with Rashba spin-orbit coupling. 2. 2. Near detector simulation studies for CP violation discovery with ESSnuSB

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Author : In-Pyo Yeo; [2019]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The neutrino oscillation experiment ESSnuSB aims to measure the CP violation phase in the lepton sector with an intense neutrino beam produced at ESS. If the CP violation is discovered, then the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe can be possibly explained. READ MORE

  3. 3. Investigation of phase conjugation for medical imaging

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Atomfysik

    Author : Ivan Sytcevich; [2017]
    Keywords : Phase conjugation; Ultrasound Optical Tomography; Rare-Earth-Doped Crystals.; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : With the development of extremely precise spectral filters based on spectral hole burning and slow light effects, the idea of their implementation in an Ultrasound Optical Tomography (UOT) medical imaging technique arose. Simulations have shown that the resulting Contrast-to-Noise (CNR) ratio is fairly good at depths up to 5 cm but decreases dramatically when probing deeper in tissue. READ MORE

  4. 4. Developing Formaldehyde Free Flame Retardant for Cellulose

    University essay from Högskolan i Borås/Institutionen Textilhögskolan

    Author : MD.Abdul Hannan; [2011]
    Keywords : cotton cellulose; organophosphorus flame retardant; acetal linkage; low temperature pyrolysis; THC; HRR; char residue; LOI;

    Abstract : Two organophosphorus compounds, namely diethyloxymethyl-9-oxa-10- phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPAC) and diethyl (2,2-diethoxyethyl) phosphonate (DPAC) were applied on cotton cellulose to impart non-carcinogenic and durable (in alkaline washing) flame retardant property to it. Some acidic catalysts, sodium dihydrogen phosphate (NaH2PO4), ammonium dihydrogen phosphate (NH4H2PO4) and phosphoric acid (H3PO4), were successfully used to settle acetal linkage between cellulose and flame retardant (FR) compound.
