1. Effectiveness of Iterative Algorithms for Recovering Phase in the Presence of Noise for Coherent Diffractive Imaging
University essay from Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för fysikAbstract : Methods of coherent diffractive imaging (CDI) rely on iterative algorithms to reconstruct the complex exit-surface wave (ESW) of the object being imaged from the measured diffraction intensity only. In this thesis we investigate by simulation the artifacts on reconstruction when noise are present in the measurement. READ MORE

2. Heterogeneous catalytic reactions studied with transient gas supply and event-averaged ambient pressure x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy
University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/NanoLund: Centre for NanoscienceAbstract : CO oxidation over Pd(100) is studied with ambient pressure x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (APXPS). Cyclic gas composition pulsing of the CO:O2 ratio, combined with a new method using software based event-averaging by image recognition over many pulses, is used to improve the signal-to-noise ratio substantially. 3. Measuring the vertical muon intensity with the ALTO prototype at Linnaeus University
University essay from Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för fysik och elektroteknik (IFE)Abstract : ALTO is a project, currently in the research and development phase, with the goal of constructing a Very High Energy (VHE) gamma-ray observatory in the southern hemisphere. It will detect the particle content reaching the ground from the interactions of either VHE gamma rays or cosmic rays in the atmosphere known as extensive air showers. READ MORE

4. Predictive Maintenance of DC Capacitors in STATCOMs
University essay fromAbstract : To further improve the reliability of STATCOM solutions a predictive maintenance system can give the user valuable readings of capacitor health an online and non-invasive, and especially readings of individual capacitors. This allows the user to replace individual deteriorating capacitor links in an MMC configuration before triggering any safety system. READ MORE

5. Investigation of ECG electrodes for burn wounds
University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för elektroteknikAbstract : This project aims to investigate a variety of electrodes for ECG (electrocardiogram) measurements and find suitable ones for burn wounded skin in association with the Burn center in Uppsala University Hospital. To this purpose, the electrical properties (in particular, electrical impedance and equivalent circuit) of electrodes and the influence of the skin on the electrical properties are looked into, and various common artefacts in ECG measurements are investigated, such as wandering baseline (caused by perspiration, respiration, patient movement and poor electrode contact), muscle tremor artefact, 50-60 Hz power line interference and measurement noise.
