  1. 1. Effect of the ICRH Antenna Position on the Coupled Power in ITER and JET

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Olle Sundberg; Vincent Forsberg; [2023]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Fusion energy has fascinated scientists for decades. One reason we do not see thispromising energy source powering today's society is the fact that the process requires extremeplasma temperatures. READ MORE

  2. 2. Environmental Barrier Coatings to protect Ceramic Matrix Composites in next-generation jet engines

    University essay from Högskolan Väst/Institutionen för ingenjörsvetenskap

    Author : Shivang Parmar; [2023]
    Keywords : Environmental barrier coating; ceramic matric composite; atmospheric plasma spray; suspension plasma spray; thermal cyclic fatigue; Barriärbeläggning; keramisk komposit; atmosfärisk plasmasprutning; suspensionsplasmasprutning; termisk cyklisk utmattning;

    Abstract : Gas turbine engine efficiency needs to be raised in order to decrease fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and expenses. Efficiency may be improved in two ways: by reducing engine weight and raising intake temperatures. READ MORE

  3. 3. Orientation of plasma jet fronts in the Earth's magnetotail

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi; Uppsala universitet/Institutet för rymdfysik, Uppsalaavdelningen

    Author : Atlas Silverhult; [2023]
    Keywords : Space physics; plamsa; reconnection; magnetospheric multiscale; MMS; magnetosphere; minimum variance analysis; MVA;

    Abstract : This project aims to investigate the orientation of plasma jet fronts in Earth's magnetotail using multi-spacecraft measurement data. The orientations are estimated by applying minimum variance analysis (MVA) and multi-spacecraft timing analysis for finding normal vectors to the jet fronts as they pass over the spacecraft. 4. 4. Studying Elliptic Flow in High Centrality Pb-Pb Collisions using Proton Collision Background Fitting

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Author : Philip Fredholm; [2023]
    Keywords : Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this report, the elliptic flow in high centrality Pb-Pb collisions is calculated using two particle correlations $v_2\{2\}$ but without any imposed separation in η with data taken from the ALICE experiment at CERN in 2015. Instead, measurements of the same correlations in proton-proton collisions is used as a background to account for non-flow effects and data is correlated between the time projection chamber and the forward multiplicity detectors in order to avoid intra-jet correlations. 5. 5. Calculation of alpha knock-on neutron spectra from the 2021 JET DT campaign

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysik

    Author : Arna Ormsdóttir; [2023]
    Keywords : Thermonuclear fusion; DT plasma; neutron spectra; supra-thermal ions;

    Abstract : A python code was developed to compute the alpha knock-on (AKN) neutron spectrum using two already available computational tools. The code was used to calculate the AKN for a given discharge from the DTE2 JET campaign. Results showed that the beam-target contribution dominated the neutron spectra and obscured the AKN tail.
