  1. 1. Transformer-Based Multi-scale Technical Reports Analyser for Science Projects Cost Prediction

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Author : Thomas Bouquet; [2023]
    Keywords : Natural Language Processing; Transformers; Deep Learning; Cost Prediction; Traitement Automatique du Langage; Transformers; Apprentissage Profond; Prédiction de coûts; Behandling av naturligt språk; Transformers; Djupinlärning; Kostnadsförutsägelser;

    Abstract : Intrinsic value prediction is a Natural Language Processing (NLP) problem consisting in determining a numerical value contained implicitly and non-trivially in a text. In this project, we introduce the SWORDSMAN model (Sentence and Word-level Oracle for Research Documents by Semantic Multi-scale ANalysis), a deep neural network architecture based on transformers whose goal is to predict the cost of research projects from the analysis of their abstract. 2. 2. Optimization-Based Geometry Correction Of Blood Flow CFD Simulations Using 4D-Flow Data

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaper

    Author : Fritiof Hegardt; [2022]
    Keywords : Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : 4D-flow is a powerful tool capable of capturing 3-dimensional, time-resolved flow measurements of blood flow in the body. Their current use is limited by resolution and scan times. A proposed solution is to use Simulation Based Imaging (SBI). READ MORE

  3. 3. A Fractional Step Zonal Model and Unstructured Mesh Generation Frame-work for Simulating Cabin Flows

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Mekanisk värmeteori och strömningslära

    Author : Sergi Tarroc Gil; [2021]
    Keywords : Zonal Model; Thermal Comfort; Fluid Simulation; Aircraft Cabin Design; NURBS; Morphing; Radial Basis Functions; Meshing; Co-located Mesh; Unstructured Mesh; Mesh Quality; Mesh Smoothing; Enlarged Orientation Theorem; Fractional Step Method; Boussinesq; Adam Bashforth; Helmholtz-Hodge Theorem; Rhie and Chow; Difference Schemes; Gradient Evaluation; Differential Heated Cavity; Driven Cavity; Draught Rate;

    Abstract : The simulation of physical systems in the early stages of conceptual designs has shown to be a key factor for adequate decision making and avoiding big and expensive issues downstream in engineering projects. In the case of aircraft cabin design, taking into account the thermal comfort of the passengers as well as the proper air circulation and renovation can make this difference. READ MORE

  4. 4. Classification of Flying Qualities with Machine Learning Methods

    University essay from KTH/Flygdynamik

    Author : Ola Isaksson; [2021]
    Keywords : Flying Qualities; Machine Learning; Flight Mechanics; Flygkvaliteter; Maskininlärning; Flygmekanik;

    Abstract : The primary objective of this thesis is to evaluate the prospect of machine learning methods being used to classify flying qualities based on simulator data (with the focus being on pitch maneuvers). If critical flying qualities could be identified earlier in the verification process, they can be further invested in and focused on with less cost for design changes of the flight control system. 5. 5. Black-box optimization of simulated light extraction efficiency from quantum dots in pyramidal gallium nitride structures

    University essay from Linköpings universitet/Matematiska institutionen

    Author : Karl-Johan Olofsson; [2019]
    Keywords : Black-box optimization; Radial basis functions; Gallium nitride; light extraction efficiency; FDTD; surrogate functions; semiconductors; global optimization;

    Abstract : Microsized hexagonal gallium nitride pyramids show promise as next generation Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) due to certain quantum properties within the pyramids. One metric for evaluating the efficiency of a LED device is by studying its Light Extraction Efficiency (LEE). READ MORE
