  1. 1. CFD Analysis of the Flow Around a Paraglider Wing

    University essay from KTH/Teknisk mekanik

    Author : Caterina Gennari; [2023]
    Keywords : Paraglider Wing; CFD; RANS; DES; Aerodynamics; Aerodynamic Hysteresis; FSI; Deformable Structure; Membrane; Shell Elements;

    Abstract : In this study, the characteristics of the flow around a paraglider wing were investigated through the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations by solving both Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations and Delayed Detached Eddy Simulations were employed. This allowed the observation of how the unique shape of the canopy of a paraglider can influence the behaviour of the flow and how aerodynamic hysteresis can manifest on this sort of wing. READ MORE

  2. 2. Hydroacoustic Modelling of Podded Propulsion System : Underwater Radiated Noise Prediction Using ANSYS

    University essay from KTH/Teknisk mekanik

    Author : Martin Persson; [2022]
    Keywords : Fluid Mechanics; Computational Aeroacoustics; Frequency Response; Noise and Vibration; Pod; Propulsion System; ANSYS; Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes Equations; Kongsberg Maritime Sweden AB;

    Abstract : Ocean noise pollution is an invisible but growing threat. There are many sources of sound in the ocean but human underwater radiated noise, in particular from shipping is one of the most prominent one. Ocean noise pollution can interfere or sometimes even directly harm marine life. READ MORE

  3. 3. Numerical Study on Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Flood Discharge Tunnel in Zipingpu Water Conservancy Project : Using RANS equations and the VOF model

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Elektricitetslära

    Author : Micaela Hamberg; Signe Dahlin; [2019]
    Keywords : VOF; RANS; Navier-Stokes; Spillway; Discharge tunnel; ANSYS; Fluent; CFD; Grid convergence index; Design of spillway; Cavitation; Gambit; k-epsilon; Ansys Gambit;

    Abstract : To avoid the large amount of damage that floods can cause, spillway tunnels are used to control water levels. To ensure the safety of water transportation through spillway tunnels, the behaviour of the water throughout the tunnel is important to know. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of Colorless Distributed Combustion

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för energivetenskaper

    Author : Hampus Olsson; [2019]
    Keywords : Computational Fluid Dynamics; Combustion; Gas Turbine; Emission reduction; Flameless Combustion; Colorless Distributed Combustion; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Colorless distributed combustion (CDC) is a promising novel technology to reduce emissions of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides in gas turbine combustors. CDC features a different flame regime than conventional gas turbine combustors, associated with a distributed reaction zone and low and uniform temperatures due to dilution of combustion air with exhaust gases. 5. 5. Investigation of performance and surge behavior of centrifugal compressors through CFD simulations

    University essay from KTH/Mekanik

    Author : Francesco Tosto; [2018]
    Keywords : centrifugal compressor; Computational Fluid Dynamics CFD ; RANS; surge; compressible uid dynamics; Design of Experiments DoE .; centrifugalkompressor; CFD-simulering; RANS; overskott; komprimerbar vatskedynamik; Design of Experiments DoE ;

    Abstract : The use of turbocharged Diesel engines is nowadays a widespread practice in the automotive sector: heavy-duty vehicles like trucks or buses, in particular, are often equipped with turbocharged engines. An accurate study of the flow field developing inside both the main components of a turbocharger, i.e. READ MORE
