  1. 1. Feasibility of quantitative 99mTc-DPD scintigraphy SPECT/CT for assessing the burden of ATTR cardiac amyloidosis

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Radiofysik

    Author : Sajad Kadhim Khalaf; [2023]
    Keywords : QSPECT; Amyloidosis; ATTR; LVMI; Recovery Coefficient; SUV; Calibration;

    Abstract : Background: Amyloid transthyretin (ATTR) cardiomyopathy is caused by the deposition of misfolded proteins, known as amyloid fibrils, in the myocardium. Quantitative Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (QSPECT) utilizing 99mTc-DPD scintigraphy has the potential to assess ATTR-suspected cardiac amyloidosis (CA). READ MORE

  2. 2. Differences in tumor volume for treated glioblastoma patients examined with 18F-fluorothymidine PET and contrast-enhanced MRI

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Karolina Hedman; [2020]
    Keywords : PET MRI; positron emission tomography; magnetic resonance imaging; brain tumor; glioblastoma; image segmentation; adaptive thresholding; feature extraction; radiotracer; gadolinium; image processing; image analysis;

    Abstract : Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common and malignant primary brain tumor. It is a rapidly progressing tumor that infiltrates the adjacent healthy brain tissue and is difficult to treat. Despite modern treatment including surgical resection followed by radiochemotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy, the outcome remains poor. READ MORE

  3. 3. Evaluation of Data-Driven Gating for 68Ga-ABY-025 PET/CT in Breast Cancer Patients

    University essay from Umeå universitet/Institutionen för fysik

    Author : Alain-Klaus Ncuti Nobera; [2020]
    Keywords : Data-driven gating; Motion Correction; Affibody molecule; ABY-025; Breast Cancer; HER2; PET CT;

    Abstract : Respiratory motion during PET acquisition degrades image quality. It is mainly the area around the thorax and abdomen which is affected. External devices do provide respiratory gating solutions but are time-consuming to set up on patients and may not always be available. READ MORE

  4. 4. TLD Measurements on Patients being treated with a Taylor Spatial Frame : Using Radiation from Na18F PET/CT Studies and from Naturally Occurring Radioisotopes

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Fysikum

    Author : Kousha Mirzadeh; [2014]
    Keywords : Taylor Spatial Frame; Thermoluminescent dosimeters; Tibia fracture; Bone remodeling; Na18F; PET CT; Bone seeking radionuclide;

    Abstract : Background: In an ongoing study conducted at Karolinska Institutet & Karolinska University Hospital, Positron Emission Tomography (PET)/Computed Tomography (CT) scans are performed on patients with tibia fractures and deformations treated with Taylor Spatial Frames (TSFs) in order to monitor their bone remodeling progress. Each patients receive an administration of approximately 2 MBq/kg bodyweight of Na18F associated with PET scans on two sessions, six and twelve weeks after the attachment of the TSF. READ MORE
