  1. 1. The Higgs Width in Higgs production in association with a W+ boson

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Wijeratne Mohandiramge Umashi Navisha Fernando; [2023]
    Keywords : Higgs boson; Higgs width; off-shell; on-shell; narrow-width approximation; MadGraph5_MC@NLO; W boson; supersymmetry; dark matter; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : The width of the Higgs boson is a quantity that cannot be measured directly from the on-shell Higgs peak; it would have to be measured indirectly. In 2013, Caola and Melnikov developed a method to determine the Higgs width by using off-shell and on-shell cross-sections and applying the narrow-width approximation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Primordial Gravitational Waves and ultra-light Dark Matter in a complex singlet extended Standard Model

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Author : Sara Wildenor; [2021]
    Keywords : theoretical physics; gravitational waves; dark matter; complex singlet extended standard model; LISA; BBO; DECIGO; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : In this thesis, the consequences of extending the internal symmetries of the standard model with a complex singlet scalar field, are investigated in terms of dark matter phenomenology and the possibility of primordial gravitational wave detection utilizing space based laser interferometry. The scalar potential of the model is constructed with a Z2 symmetry, which allows for the retainment of a linear and a quadratic coupling parameter, as well as a stable dark matter candidate, and an additional non-zero vacuum expectation value for the real component of the scalar field. 3. 3. Can Feebly Interacting Massive Particles (FIMP) constitute Dark Matter?

    University essay from KTH/Fysik

    Author : Grandharva Appagere; [2021]
    Keywords : Dark Matter; Higgs¬portal; Freeze¬-in mechanism; FIMP; C-W Mechanism; Mörk materia; Higgsportal; frys-in-mekanism; FIMP; C-W mekanism;

    Abstract : In this study, we investigate the feasibility of Feebly Interacting Massive particles (FIMP) as possible candidates to constitute the observed Dark Matter abundance in the universe. FIMPs are particles that couple very feebly with known particles in the Standard Model (SM). READ MORE

  4. 4. Impact of loosening the requirement on missing transverse momentum in tt+DMsearches with the ATLAS experiment

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Fysikum

    Author : Alice Knutas; [2021]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Dark matter is required in the universe to explain certain phenomenona, like the dynamics of stars and temperature fluctuations of the cosmic microwave background. This thesis focuses on the production of dark matter in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, where the dark matter is detected through momentum conservation. READ MORE

  5. 5. Looking for mono-Z signatures in Z-boson and scalar dark matter interactions

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Högenergifysik

    Author : Magnus Bertilsson; [2021]
    Keywords : Scalar Dark Matter; Z boson; Mono-Z signatures;

    Abstract : Even though there is a multitude of observational evidence from cosmology and astrophysics, the standard model does not include a suitable dark matter candidate and therefore physics beyond the standard model is necessary. There are hypotheses of what the particle candidate could be coming from theories such as supersymmetry or extra dimensions. READ MORE
