  1. 1. Multiple-Emitter Super-resolution Imaging using the Alternating Descent Conditional Gradient Method

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Beräkningsbiologi och biologisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Author : Dolev Illouz; [2023]
    Keywords : super-resolution; alternating descent conditional gradient method; ADCG; multiple-emitter localization; nanoscale imaging; single molecule tracking; Physics and Astronomy;

    Abstract : This thesis examines the state-of-the-art 2D super-resolution technique alternating descent conditional gradient (ADCG) method's ability to accurately localize fluorophores in diffraction-limited single molecule images (SMI) and analyze the impact of pre-processing and post-processing modules on ADCG's fluorophore localization. A synthetic dataset obtained from the 2013 Grand Challenge localization microscopy and a temporally linked dataset obtained from an unpublished set of Optical DNA mapping experiments performed by Jonathan Jeffet at the NanoBioPhotonix Lab at Tel-Aviv University were initially segmented to extract their noise parameters. 2. 2. Implementation of Super-Resolution Ultrasound Imaging for in Vitro Experiments

    University essay from KTH/Skolan för kemi, bioteknologi och hälsa (CBH)

    Author : Kani Yara; [2022]
    Keywords : B-mode; Localization; Microbubbles; Poly-Vinyl-Alcohol; Tracking; Verasonics; B-mode; Localisering; Mikrobubblor; Poly-Vinyl-Alcohol; Spårning; Verasonics;

    Abstract : Ultrasound imaging systems are a safe and affordable imaging modality with the disadvantage of low spatial resolution, especially for assessing smaller vessels. However, with the implementation of super-resolution ultrasound imaging techniques, studies have shown promising results in achieving a resolution below the diffraction limit. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterization and optimization of Rhodosporidium toruloides for production of lipids

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Author : Niharika Singh; [2021]
    Keywords : chemical engineering; oily yeasts; lipids; nitrogen limitation; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : Oleaginous microorganisms provide an opportunity to produce oils without the use of arable land for cultivation of oil-containing plants. Oleaginous microorganisms are also capable of storing products of pharmaceutical interest alongside storing polymers, which could open new opportunities in the bioplastic industry. READ MORE

  4. 4. Energy Consumption Optimizations for 5G networks

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Signaler och System

    Author : Martina Tran; [2019]
    Keywords : 5G; 4G; NR; LTE; Energy efficiency; Energy optimization; Sleep states; Sleep modes; Power model; Latency; File delay;

    Abstract : The importance of energy efficiency has grown alongside awareness of climate change due to the rapid increase of greenhouse gases. With the increasing trend regarding mobile subscribers, it is necessary to prevent an expansion of energy consumption via mobile networks. READ MORE

  5. 5. Study of an Alternative Pion Collector Scheme for the ESS Neutrino Super Beam Project

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/FREIA

    Author : Patrik Simion; [2019]
    Keywords : FLUKA; flair; FREIA; particle physics; essnusb; beam; collector; pion; neutrino; super beam; ESS;

    Abstract : The ESSnuSB will produce a high intensity neutrino super beam based on the 3 ms long proton pulses at 14 Hz from the ESS linac. With the use of a conventional normal-conducting van der Meer horn, to collect pions from the neutrino target, these 3 ms pulses will have to be compressed to of the order of 1 microsecond in order to avoid overheating of the magnet current conductors.
