  1. 1. Seasonal permafrost subsidence monitoring in Tavvavuoma (Sweden) and Chersky (Russia) using Sentinel-1 data and the SBAS stacking technique

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Ida Rehn; [2022]
    Keywords : InSAR; Sentinel-1; SBAS; Permafrost; Subsidence; Permafrost thaw;

    Abstract : Permafrost deformation is expected to increase due to climatic perturbations such as amplified air and soil temperatures, resulting in permafrost thawing and subsequent subsidence. Palsas and peat plateaus are uplifted ice-rich peat mounds that experience permafrost subsidence. READ MORE

  2. 2. Spatial distribution and morphometric analysis of thermokarst lakes and other water bodies : Case study from the sporadic permafrost region, Tavvavuoma, Sweden

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Christoffer Keskitalo; [2016]
    Keywords : thermokarst lakes; permafrost; GIS and remote sensing; change detection analysis; morphometry; Tavvavuoma;

    Abstract : Projected air and ground temperatures are expected to be higher in Arctic and sub-Arcticlatitudes and with temperatures already close to the limit where permafrost can exist,resistance against degradation is low. With thawing permafrost, the landscape is modifiedwith depression in which thermokarst lakes emerge. READ MORE

  3. 3. A 2D Electrical Resistivity Survey of Palsas in Tavvavuoma, sub-arctic Sweden

    University essay from Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Author : Per Marklund; [2014]
    Keywords : Palsas; permafrost; peat plateaus; resistivity; ert; geophysics; Tavvavuoma; Palsar; permafrost; torvplatåer; resistivitet; ert; geofysik; Tavvavuoma;

    Abstract : Electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) is a commonly used geophysical method to investigate permafrost in the mountain environment, but few studies have employed this method in a permafrost affected peatland. For this thesis, 5 ERT profiles were measured over 17 palsas and peat-plateaus in a palsa peatland environment in Tavvavuoma, northern Sweden, where the primary aim was to investigate the depth to the base of permafrost under the mounds.
