  1. 21. Influence of soil moisture content and infiltration on ground temperature and active layer depth in a river terrace in Adventdalen, Svalbard

    University essay from Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi

    Author : Carina Schuh; [2015]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The active layer constitutes an important subsystem of permafrost environments. Thermal andhydrological processes in the active layer determine local phenomena such as erosion, hydrologicaland ecosystem changes, and can have implications for the global carbon-climate feedback. 2. 22. Simulating MPC Controlled Lime Injection for the Flue-gas Treatment at Fortum's Thermal Power Plant

    University essay from KTH/Reglerteknik

    Author : Joacim Sundberg; [2015]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to investigate the possibility to improve the separation of HCl and SO2 in the dry ue-gas treatment for boiler #3 at Fortum's thermal power plant in Hogdalen; by using a model predictive control instead of a PID controller to govern the slaked lime injection. To achieve this an ARMAX model was derived using MATLAB's System Identi cation Toolbox and measurements of the incoming and outgoing levels of HCl, SO2 and the speed of the injection motor. 3. 23. Feasibility of a low-cost weather sensor network for agricultural purposes : a preliminary assessment

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Author : Kees Van Duijvendijk; [2015]
    Keywords : coffee; microclimates; Costa Rica; Physical Geography and Ecosystem analysis; spatio-temporal interpolation; GIS; micro-sensors; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Abstract : This study has focused on challenges encountered when setting up a weather-network for agricultural purposes (e.g. linking temperature to the suitability of crops and pest incidence) with only low-cost sensors and materials. READ MORE

  4. 24. Preliminary Feasibility Analysis on the Direct Use of Geothermal Energy in Rwanda: : Case Study Gisenyi Hot Spring

    University essay from KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologi

    Author : Esdras NSHIMYUMUREMYI; [2014]
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The energy sector is a motor to speed up the economy development but is also a major pollutant. Rwanda, having about 60% of its total electricity production from imported fossil fuel (diesel generators), has adopted a strategy of energy diversification especially from renewable energy sources. 5. 25. On-line estimation of junction temperatures in power modules

    University essay from Lunds universitet/Industriell elektroteknik och automation

    Author : Josefin Lund; [2014]
    Keywords : junction temperature estimation; foster circuit; thermal Ohms law; thermal resistance; thermal capacitance; time constant; Technology and Engineering;

    Abstract : It is critical for the durability of power modules to maintain low enough temperature in their components (IGBTs and diodes). The goal of this project was to examine methods to estimate the junction temperature of components in an IGBT module in real-time. READ MORE
